He did as a matter of fact have enough money on hand. But he did not want to spend it on a mad Eureka candy spree. This was one of the cases where her being stubborn was not cute.
He was 110 percent sure she would not even eat a quarter of this.

She froze when he said her name. The tone he used with her showed that he was not taking it lightly anymore. Good... and bad because this was the first time they both were serious about something.
Eureka turned around and faced him, all serious and no more randomly scavenging candy from the shelves. "I want to know why you don't want to spend time with me in the summer." Did he have his own plans that she did not know about or was not involved in? It was alright if he had his plans but she should at least know about them. ;_; | |

Not something he would say out loud that would make it worse. He did not say he didnt want to spend time with her. He just said he did not want to work at a job with her. Two completley different things.
He had no plans at the moment and would tell her if they were major ones.
"Eureka i want to spend time with you this summer. As such as you want. Just not working at a job together"
That was basically it.

That was basically it. She looked to the side, toying with a candy bag on the shelf right next to them to distract herself and not say things she'd regret later. "Well..." When he put it this way, it didn't sound so unreasonable or hurtful. "... okay. But then..."She sighed, feeling a little lost and not sure why she was this mad if it was this simple. She already was regretting this. "Maybe say that next time instead of what you said..." which she forgot but she was sure it was much more hurtful.
Also, why was he not excited about getting a job with her? Didn't that mean he wasn't that crazy about her? Not as crazy as she was, anyway.
Eureka chewed the insides of her cheeks and slooooowly started taking the extra candy bags from his arms and putting them back onto the shelves because, let's face it, she was not going to eat all that. Her face would break out in pimples. | |
