Honeydukes is the greatest (and only) candy shop in Hogsmeade that never has a quiet day. Knowing that the place is famous for its sugary delights that are too scrumptious to resist, students and adults alike flock to this shop to satisfy their sweet tooth. If you were to peek through the window, you will witness shelves full of hundreds of candy jars and boxes as well as a large crowd of customers greedily snatching them before they all run out.

A million coloured boxes and wrappers capture your attention the moment you step inside the shop. The walls are adorned with green shelving, the counters hold jars and boxes of different candies, and there is even a station for trying out candy samples from chocolate frogs to jelly slugs and anything in between. Feel free to explore the entirety of the stop; just refrain from going down to (or coming out of...) the cellar where crates and boxes full of candy are stored.

Wouldn't have been a problem?! How would that not have been a problem? Even just getting a little bit of every flavor of fudge would've been so much for the two of them. "I don't doubt that you would do that but it's not necessary!" She would be working out like crazy to burn off all of those calories. Not that it wouldn't have been worth it though. "That I can agree to. Getting a few different flavors at a time." Yes, she liked that idea as well.

The smile on her face was bright at this and she couldn't resist quickly kissing the tips of his fingers when he did. Keighley followed right at his side, as she always did. "You got it. There's lots more to see." As this was said, her smaller hand found its way into his and she was already leading them from the shop back out into the cold. They had an entire fun filled afternoon ahead of them.

Was there any other logical place to go to with her brother than a candy store? Well... actually maybe the joke shop, but that hadn't been the mood Ve had been feeling lately. Chocolate, however? 100%. The promise of sugar was one of the few things that enticed her to leave the comfort of her bed. An unfortunate after effect of whatever this was that she found her current state, but almost a beneficial one.

This was probably the best she'd ever done in her classes. She was even ahead on her homework. Who even was she?

Using her small frame to push open the door, perhaps with more power than was necessary, she headed inside and held it open so Vas could enter after her. She was enjoying her brother's company more lately, maybe because she wasn't unnecessarily picking fights when there did not need to be one. "Do you think we might be able to find something we can melt down and make into something new for Papa? It might be nice to be the ones sending him a care package this time." And while Renner probably would have enjoyed anything they purchased here, she was quite certain he'd like something the twins concocted better.

Ok Ok Theia was maybe a little excited for Hogsmeade. She had been in the castle too long and not really the outdoors type when the weather is cold. This was an exception since she was looking forward to some sweets and fun. She was waiting outside the shop all snug and warm in her scarf, hat and jacket. She was not taking any chances. Why she was waiting was obvious.

She was waiting for her friend Diamond.

Just something about picking candy with a friend was better than doing it alone. She also wanted to get some butterbeer with the bit of money she had.

It was one of the few shops that he would very willing step foot into without any fuss whatsoever and be able to walk around for however long was needed. Sugar was his thing, particularly chocolate, everyone knew this. This wasn't about him though, not today. Something wasn't right with Vera, that much he knew. Ever since that one lesson she was acting even more off than usual. Yeah, he had noticed. He might not have said anything by way of words because that wasn't their style.. but he had noticed.

Stepping into the shop behind his sister, Vas immediately glanced around. One arm slinging around Vera's shoulders which was something he didn't always do but it was an occasional thing when she wasn't bugging him or he knew just how down she was really feeling. With his free hand he made sure to grab them a basket for whatever sweets he knew they would be grabbing today so they wouldn't have to carry everything around. "Whatever you find, I'll make sure that we can turn it into something," his words held the tone of promise he only used when he knew she needed him to not let her down. "I bet Scoot has something she can toss in too and she would want to help." He knew that if they didn't include her in this all heck would break loose if the youngest Thanatos found out.

Of course she had her influencer kit with her, she really never left her dorm without it, and had shoved some more stickers into the bag before leaving. Another suit of armour and frame around a portrait had had one of them slapped on to it in her wake, but today was another round of promotion. She was sure Theia wouldn't mind helping her slap a Carat Patch sticker or two...or ten...on shelves and walls and benches and literally anywhere while they hung out today. Not to mention two totally fabulous first years enjoting Hogsmeade and doing Honeydukes unboxings and taste testing was totally peak content!

She knew he knew she wasn't feeling herself lately. And considering how little she wanted to talk to anyone about it, most of all him, she appreciated the fact he'd remained silent and not tried to pry anything from her. Scoot had been the same, coming up into her dorm and having sleep overs with her now and then as well. It made her weirdly emotional when she thought about how lucky she was to have them both, so she tried to not dwell on that too much either but she was feeling a lot of that gratitude in the current moment, especially when he slung his arm around her should in a comforting gesture. She gave him a small squeeze and a smile, before looking around.

It was moments like these too that he really reminded her that while they were twins, he was also still a big brother. Both for her and Scoot, even if it was only by a few merely minutes between her and him. Vas clearly took his role very seriously though and while she often times would have rolled her eyes at him for it, right now she just let it be comforting. Scrounging up some of usual Vera, she shot him a cheeky smile at his promise. "That makes me want to try to find the hardest thing to melt and then experiment on it." Which also just sounded like fun. Was there an indestructible gummy or something that sweet spots had? "We should do lemon drops though and then use some of our basic chocolates and see if we can make a weird lemon square but like... with a chocolate base instead of that graham cracker-y tasting one." And as for Scoot? Of course she'd be included too! Time with all three Thanatos children was equally as important as just them pairing off. "We should also just by her a snack too." Kind of as like a sorry that hadn't brought her with them for this trip.

Well, that was just basic color theory! Diamond would have assumed that Theia knew aaaaaall about this sort of thing considering who her mum was (she may have done her research after they first met). She supposed even old wrock stars like Theia's dad would need to know what colors looked good and not great on them - unless Theia's dad relied on Theia's mum for all that. BUT, Diamond had warm and neutral undertones to her skin which meant that these kinds of BOLD colors worked awesome for her. Good thing too since it worked perfectly with her Carat Patch branding.

"I mean...technically there is someone behind you," the Gryffindor hummed while preparing her camera a bit more and attached it to her bedazzled selfie stick - this one with lilac rhinestones that had a kind of green shimmer to them depending on how it caught the light - Diamond called it her Glamethyst selfie stick. "Serene but smiley. It will be the perfect contrast for our post sugar photo which should look like we are on the sugar rush of our LIVES. Super goofy and playfully unhinged," she explained while she adjusted a couple more settings and, for the piece de resistance or whatever that fancy French phrase was, slapped one of her Carat Patch stickers right small on the window behind them. "Ready? 3...2...1...say Fizzing Whizzbeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees!"

Did she say one picture? She really meant more like ten. You needed to have options.

It was hard not to notice. Even for him. Yeah, he might be her brother and at times it might seem like he didn't always care about the things that she did but he was always there when she needed him. Actually he was always there regardless. Most of the time, even with him wearing his noise cancelling headphones, he knew what was going on around him. So he was rather surprised that she hadn't come to him at all but also maybe he was a little relieved too. If it had anything to do with what he thought it might have to do with.. well he wasn't entirely sure he was ready to have that conversation yet. It was going to come up though, it was just all a matter of when. The small squeeze he received from her reminded him that she did appreciate him being there and he returned the grin.

She really did do her research, wow. There was understanding color theory and than there was taking that and using it to make ORANGE work of all the colors. Like Theia thought her own outfit was pretty good with a her black jeans, blue jacket which went well with her blonde hair. Which sorry dad was incased in a beanie because it was cold. But that was a whole other discussion for another day. Diamond was crazy in a good way and it seemed to have worked. Don't think it would have worked out well if Theia tried it herself. "I meant like someone weird!" Not just a random person shopping or something like that.

It wasn't that she didn't want to talk to him. Truthfully, she really wanted to talk to him and be able to sort through everything that was running around in circles in her head. But there was two major reasons she didn't want it to be him, because his suspicion would have only been half right. She figured how she was feeling would just be a burden on her twin, and it didn't make sense to share that. And then when she considered the other people in her life who she could have talked to, there were more reasons that while she logically knew it would have been safe, she didn't feel safe. And then the more she thought about who she could talk to her, the more her head came up with reasons she couldn't, until it finally occurred to her the excuses were because there was one person she wanted. But that person didn't exist anymore - and she'd never felt that as acutely as she did now.

But she also knew how sad their mom being gone was for Vasco, in general. So... she didn't want to talk about it with him. But she did have a letter in her bag for someone else.

So yes... instead it was far easier to just... try to be normal for an afternoon. Which was made easier by the challenge they'd just established. "Deal. Let's go look at the hard candies!" She smiled at him, before tugging him over towards the pops and drops. Of course hard candies still were meltable but... they took longer. And she was hoping there'd be something around here that would be specifically made NOT to melt. "Lemon and chocolate is a very underrated pairing." She replied, very serious as he seemed to be considering her suggestion. "Let's get her a chocolate frog and maybe some Bertie Botts?" Classics, but one hit the chocolate requirement and the other she thought it'd be cute if she shorted the GOOD flavors into a rainbow. So like.. a specially crafted Bertie Botts just for Scootalou. "Do you want anything?"

Vasco was used to Vera burdening him with things! That was part of their bond. Joking. Seriously though, she wasn't a burden and nothing she said to him could make him feel that way. If she didn't want to talk, fine. He wasn't going to shove the knowledge that he had of things in her face like he wanted to. Sure, he could do that but why should he? So she could think he was lying to her or something anyhow?

Their mom being gone was a hard topic to talk about but one that Vasco could handle now and no longer avoided the way he used to when they were much younger. He was growing up and not the same boy he had been back then.

Sure, he could play if cool. He had NOTHING to hide. Whatever you want, V." The Ravenclaw let himself be tugged along, all the while checking out all the different candies that were on display as they walked down each aisle. "I wasn't bad mouthing the pairing, I was considering what you said you wanted to do." She should know how he was with planing things out right away in his head when new pairings and the like were mentioned in a particular way. "Sounds good for her." He'd even sit there and help her sort them out if she wanted. As for him.. well.. "Do you even have to ask?"

Not exactly but surely it was one of the perks of being on the staff - even if she was just a junior member and had very very minor duties thus far. "But...before we do all that," she continued as she looped one of her arm through and around her friend's. "Let's try some delicacies and give them a rating. Zero to ten carats. Zero being disgusting and like...you'd rather eat dragon dung than eat the sweet again. Ten being absolutely exquisite and Yule Ball in the mouth."

Eh, those comparisons were a work in progress.

The truth of the matter was that while Vasco had grown and could talk about their mother, Vera had not. Since the moment they'd lost their mom, she'd committed herself to being utterly ridiculous in hopes that it created enough of a distraction no one would be able to wallow in the sadness they all felt. But what she'd failed to realize was 'wallowing' as she had later assigned to her childhood avoidance, had truly just been a natural part of the grieving process. Which she'd skipped. And now she very much was feeling the consequences of never having let herself process like Vasco had. So instead, she was left with confusing maybe feelings and a sadness over the fact that she did not have her mother around to speak with on it.

If she talked to Vasco, would she feel better? She knew she would, even if his reaction was what she assumed it would be. But it came with a level of vulnerability she wasn't ready to share. She liked to pretend she was growing up and into an actual person now but... there were things she still had yet to process.

But she was also running away from those. Which was getting much harder.

Scanning the aisles of candy, she reached out for a bag of hard caramels to look at the back to try to determine if it'd be usable. Hmm... probably, but a waste considering she didn't love caramel. Hearing what sounded nearly defensive, she turned back towards him and blinked with a bit of surprise. "I didn't think you were. I was just making a statement for people in general. Not you." She did in fact know how he was. "Did you come up with any ideas already?" She would absolutely LOVE help sorting. It would take... time. Maybe they could take it to the room of requirement and request a room with a movie or something while they did so. "No, but's it's polite to." She replied with a small laugh. "What are you going to get then?"

Vasco could've told her this years and years ago but Vera was Vera. The girl hardly ever listened to a word he said.. especially if she knew he was going to be right about something. So imagine him trying to tell her about that, yeah, no. He would just be here for whenever she realized that she could come to him for whatever she might need him for. Even if it were for nothing more than silent cuddles.

The thing with having a twin sister like his was this.. sometimes he just had to let.. Vera, Vera. That was it. As much as he wanted to turn her around, grab her by the shoulders, shake her a few times and tell her that he knew at least a part of what was going on.. he wasn't going to. Not right this second. Maybe if it somehow managed to come up in their conversation today..

Cue a simple shrug of his shoulders. Him, defensive? Never."I might have an idea or two. Not sure if it will work or not though." He might just have to test it out later on and find out for sure. Yeah, he would be down for doing that. "You, being polite? Since when?" he teased, grinning over at her. "Probably some fudge. Maybe some sugar quills too." What does that have to do...ok there was no trying to get her back on track once she was like this. You just had to go with the flow and that is what Theia was going to do. "I think we just found the slogan for Carat Patch. You have to take the normal and make it extraordinary." But that was all she got to say on that matter since pictures where more important than this.

She still had no idea how to develop these photos if that was what her plan was but it sounded like fun and she had no plans other than read a book in bed.

“Yeah, it sounds like fun!”

Permissions and stuff like that didnt even cross this blonde’s mind. It would work out in the end like things usually do. Diamond was just full of good ideas today. Nothing she could disagree with or think of anything better.

“The patented carat rating system. What would a 5 taste like on your scale. If a one is dung and a ten is exquisite??”

Theia asked as it was her turn to pull Diamond towards some chocolate wands and skeletons.

Twin made excellent points. Vera WAS going to just 'Vera'. And if she wasn't ready to go through the seven stages of acceptance on something she'd realized about herself, someone else pointing it out was just going to delay even the attempt of doing so by at least a full calendar year. Those were the rules. And while she was coming to accept her feelings about her mom, any other feelings were still in the stage of bargaining to get rid of them.

That's why this boy was the Ravenclaw out of the two of them. He knew was was coming and he knew when it was best to push her to do something and when it was best to back off and let her figure it all out on her own. Even if it meant that she had to crash and burn several times over in the process.. which was always hard to watch. The may annoy one another but he never liked seeing her struggle. He was to hoping that she would come to her senses and figure things out soon.

Pretzels sounds yummy to mix into the base for one of them." Nuts sounded like they wouldn't be a good compliment in her mind, but that might also be because she wasn't crazy about nutty flavors mixed with her sweets. "I was also originally thinking a milk chocolate but... dark chocolate might be a better flavor compliment. Something that's rich but not ridiculously sweet. And white chocolate would just LOOK really pretty with it." So... dark chocolate they could do with their crunch and the white could be the softer bar.

"Then let's do fudge! Where should we go to grab what we'll need?" She went ahead and put the caramels back, the challenge from before was already forgotten to her.

Oh she was good. Theia was really good. Diamond had to give herself a pack on the back for knowing how to pick the people she associated with. Bonus points for the blonde having famous parents too. Bonus points and not at all the initial motivation. "Yooooooo, Theia. You are an absolute GENUIS. Keep this up and I am totally going to make you my creative director as well as one of the co-hosts." Her logo, the diamond carrot, was already a metaphor and it literally was doing precisely what her friend had specified. It also really helped her focus her content.

With the promise of developing pictures together now settled, Diamond marched around the sweets shop and was more than willing to be guided by her friend in one specific direction. They were going to be testing all the things, so it really didn't matter where they started. "Hmmmmm....some middle of the road flavor...hmmm...oh...maybe those obnoxiously big sandwiches the elves serve for lunch sometimes? Like...maybe the roast beef ones are a five...or the sprouts and mustard ones if you are a vegetarian." That left tons of room between dragon dung and sandwiches to list other things. Totally a legit scale. "So...what are we trying first?"

Not because she didn’t expect them from Vasco, but more of because it was things she wouldn’t have come up with on her own. She beamed back at him, giving a nod at his words. She could admit she liked to hang out with her brother, especially as of late. “Don’t complain. Isn’t this a better way to hang out than me waiting to ambush you in the game room?” Not that she hated those moments - getting him with gobstones was often one of her favorite past times. “They are a solid combo.” And white chocolate was honestly a preference for her, so she’d be happy to do that whenever.

“Don’t make me show you shouting.” She warned, teasingly. Perhaps it was growth that she didn’t immediately just get louder - maybe she was finally growing up the slightest bit, because she considered the other patrons before doing so. “Oh! Thank You Thank You. Theia does have her moments. They mostly involve random facts about the ocean. But not this time! She had a tough time deciding which title felt better to have. Like Co-host is cool because you are hosting it with someone else. But Creative Director. She liked being creative and a Director was super cool as well. Hard to decide.

Yet, despite all the epic ideas they've come up with together.. she still didn't trust him with certain topics. This was because they were twins and they had been doing this sort of thing forever. One little itty bitty mention of a thought and it instantly became the best idea ever. In that moment anyways. "Who's complaining? I'm not complaining." He grinned at her completely ignoring how she had brought up the game room ambush. Did she remember that he still had to get her back for that?

"Go on then. You'll probably just get us tossed out and then what?" he warned her right back. If she wanted to call it growth, he would let her but they still had an entire day ahead of them for her to annoy him. "Umm, I don't think so? It's either we cook ourselves or we ask them to cook for us so either way the stuff is getting used?" It made sense to him. And as long as they cleaned up after themselves and didn't get in the house elves way, he didn't see any issues with using the kitchen whenever they wanted.

It was all practically a done deal then. She had read or heard (or made up) somewhere that these seven years at Hogwarts were when you made pivotal connections and amassed your team. Obviously this meant that Diamond was on high alert to recruit her own for her obviously blossoming influencer career. Now now everyone, just let a Gryffindor dream!

"Ooooh chocolate. You know. I haven't solidified my top ten for the next issue of The Quill, so top 10 Hogsmeade chocolate items you can't go on without has a certain ring to it." And there was plenty of chocolate items to try out in Hogsmeade and not just here in Honeydukes. "We're pivoting. Chocolate tasting it is and then we'll come up with a definitive top ten list."

Diamond leaned over and grabbed a basket for their haul and relooped her arm through Theia's again. "Fudges first then, those are the heaviest and sampling that later will just wreck havoc on our stomachs. And if they don't have sea salt ... we can make a suggestion to the shopkeeper. Salty sweet is a super popular market that they are missing out on." Probably. That was a phrase she heard mum and dad throw around the dinner table while they discussed work anyway. So over they went to the fudge display and grabby went Diamond's nimble fingers. "Milk chocolate," she announced as she plucked a piece from the display and snapped it in half. "If they've messed this up there is no way any fudge has a hope of making the top ten," she explained while holding up her piece to tap against Theia's for a sugary form of cheers.
