Upon entering the History of Magic classroom, you’ll notice that it looks the same as ever minus a few minor changes. Holden’s desk has three boxes (all varying in size, shape, material, and colour: gold, silver, and lead - perhaps an homage to Holden’s favourite Shakespearean play) The Professor himself stands next to the chalkboard with a message written in chalk. Fortius Quo Fidelius. For those familiar with Latin, this may be a more obvious hint to what they would discuss in today’s lesson. Below those words are instructions: “Take a seat, class, and start working through the crosswords on your desk”
SPOILER!!: Crossword
INSTRUCTIONS: Use the clues to fill in the words above. Words can go across or down. Letters are shared when the words intersect. For longer answers that have multiple words, there are no spaces in between.
ACROSS
1. A gold coin equivalent to 493 Knuts
3. A musical song with the lyrics: "I work all night, I work all day to pay the bills I have to pay"
5. A form of wizarding currency. Burgock (A Goblin) was allergic to this coin's material
6. These magical humanoid creatures speak Gobbledegook and are adept metal smiths notable for their silver work
7. Made out of silver and equivalent to 29 Knuts
DOWN
1. The goblin and founder of a very important Wizarding Bank in the UK
2. Chief of the Wizards' Council who attempted to define all magical creatures as either a Being or a Beast
4. A plant used as currency many moons ago
Messy red hair notwithstanding, Finn was otherwise perfectly presentable in his uniform. He meandered into the History of Magic classroom, glancing around the desks to see who else was there and see if Professor Holden was in the room. What he saw was boxes, and instructions to do a crossword!
Less concerned about the contents or purpose of the boxes, the Gryffindor quickly found himself a seat and pulled out a quill to start on his crossword.
History of Magic, a class that Evan usually enjoyed and was starting to even more so now that he'd loosened up on opinion vs fact. Entering the classroom, he gave a nod towards Professor Holden murmuring a quick, "Hello, Professor" before making his way to a seat. Glancing at the board as he settled, he eyed the latin phrase written there, his face furrowing into one of concentration while he tried to remember it's meaning.
He was drawing a blank, and while he flipped over the crossword and pulled a pen out to complete it, instead he was focused on writing out the Latin phrase to try to remember it's meaning. He was sure Holden would tell them later, but it was much more satisfying to figure these things out on his own.
Maybe it had something to do with banking? Considering the crossword seemed to be currency and Gringotts centric.
A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
The Headmaster's speech during the feast had been the first one to have piqued his interest. The locked room situation the most. What was behind it? Why was it locked? How difficult was it going to be to try and break in? The last part of his speech about a school dance had send dread through his entire body. He did not do well in social interactions apart from maybe with Lisa. Speaking of her, he had a feeling she was going to try to convince him to come.
As he entered the classroom deep in thought and with his hands in his robe pockets, Daniel let out a deep sigh before he looked over at the desk to see three boxes. All with different materials. His dark brown eyes moved from the boxes to read the message on the board, giving a quick greeting to the professor as he did so, and wondered what the text had meant. He did not take Latin as a class as of yet but he knew what Fortius meant at least.
Eventually, the Hufflepuff turned and began to find a seat somewhere in the middle of the classroom. Once seated he took out pen from his bag and quietly began to solve the puzzle on his desk.

History of Magic was always one of Cailyn's favorite classes to attend, and it was no surprise that she had tried to be one of the first students to arrive. It was always fascinating to find out what they'd be discussing, and the presence of the boxes of various metals made her think this would be another interesting discussion.
She had taken the seat next to Evan after her usual bright smile toward the professor. "Hello Professor Holden," she greeted him before finally taking her seat and perusing the crossword puzzle. And the Latin phrase on the board, which she noticed her train companion ruminating over.
"Maybe look at each word by itself?," she suggested softly, leaning over so he could hear her and hopefully not interrupting anyone else. They both took Latin as an extracurricular, so it shouldn't be too hard. She had her suspicions, anyhow, but she kept them quiet as she straightened up and applied her attention to the puzzle.

Matilda walked into the classroom and headed straight towards an empty seat next to her brother. "Hi." She offered quietly, her eyes scanning the chalkboard for a moment before starting to work on her crossword too, one hand running through her short hair. Hmm. This looked to be rather easy.

She had almost forgotten about class entirely thanks to the dredges of her morning tea and the peculiar shape they had taken. Perhaps some insight behind the fabricated mystery that was the locked door the headmaster had spoke of at the feast? It was not a question she had particularly been seeking an answer for, but if the tea leaves wanted to reveal it to her then that was their business. She had been busy turning and pondering and pondering and turning when a musky draft pulled her from her focus. Thankfully her school bag had already been packed and she was able to leave the comforts of her bed easily to drift down to the History of Magic classroom where she once again paused before the threshold to consider the air flowing in and out. Lips pursed, she waited for a few of her peers to cross over first before doing so herself.
Slipping into the seat directly behind Finn-no-to-be-confused-with-Rhett (who she would have greeted but he seemed in deep concentration so she refrained), Mitsuki kept her bag on her lap and turned her attention to the crossword puzzle Professor Holden had indicated. Lips pursed, the Ravenclaw found inspiration in the cross sections and put her quill to the parchment to work on a little character she had grown fond of during her silences and was intending on including in the horoscope column she would soon have for The Quill. Filling in the horizontal lines, the ones that mattered the most today, with concentrated scribbling, she set her paper aside for just a moment to consider the board - specifically the Latin.
"Hmmmm," she hummed to herself before adding one final touch to her paper.
Oh. There were two phoenix haired people in front of her now. Curious.

Fortunately, Jude hadn't lost interest in all things. There was still a nagging that went on in his mind that he needed to process his emotions and get himself functioning back to normal. At least Reagan kept telling him that as well. Jude knew those were valid points but how did he find motivation when most days he felt like a sleepwalker? Actually, he sort of was a sleepwalker because his sleeping habits had become worse. It was why he'd actually gone the route of using makeup to cover the dark circles under his eyes.
"Hello, Professor." The normally happy Hufflepuff greeted Holden solemnly, without really taking note of the boxes then headed to find a seat. Since they were thankfully still friends, Jude took a seat with Cailyn and Evan. He slid into the free seat next to his best friend. "Hi, Cailyn. Hi, Evan."
And what's this? A crossword? Jude read the clues. He should know some of this stuff. He did, actually, but why was he drawing a blank to the answers?

So far, History of Magic wasn't one of her favs. No offense but Kalie just didn't share her dad's enthusiasm for the subject. But it was one of those classes that she, as a first-year, was required to take. So here she was walking into class this fine day. One that she wished that she could actually spend outside, enjoying the last of the warmth before it started getting colder.
"Hello, professor!" she greeted, plopping into a seat in the second row and looking over the crossword puzzle in front of her. And looking less forward to the subject of today's lesson. Money? That probably meant Gringotts and who wants to hear the long boring history of a bank? Though, the boxes did have her thrown. They weren't even in the shape of coins!

Summer walked into the classroom and smiled at the Professor. "Hello!" she said as she walked passed him, she then went and sat down at her desk and saw a crossword, okay this wasn't going to be fun for her, just like wordsearches and other stuff like that, this wasn't her strongest thing to do.
Summer looked at the clues, like seriously how was she supposed to know what plant was used as a currency, maybe it was a rose, or a four leaf clover, they were very rare right. She sighed as she took out her quill and sat there with it whilst she tried to start on the crossword.
"Hi Professor." Holden was in for a fun surprise today, AKA Ashley was in a cheerful mood. Okay moods? Those were common enough. But she was actively feeling great today. She greeted the classroom with a smile, sitting by Mitsuki and nodding at Evan, Cailyn, and Jude.
She looked over the room and the crossword. Then she did a total of five things: 1. she arranged her things on her desk neatly, 2. she noted that the professor had several boxes on his desk, 3. she translated the latin on the board- it took her a minute, being rusty, 4. she noted that the crossword was related to goblins and money, and 5. she got distracted and started drawing on her paper. Sorry, Holden, the drawings were of flowers and completely unrelated to the lesson. But she stopped every so often to work on the crossword... she was trying, promise. She was just so peaceful and felt that her work absolutely needed flowers on it. Right now.

History of Magic wasn't one of the most fun classes usually but Keighley didn't mind it much. It was a lot to remember, names and dates and places but that's what could make it interesting if the topic was the right one. Today's topic was completely unknown to the third year as she entered the classroom with a gentle smile on her face. "Hello, Professor."
Making her way further into the room, Keigh choose a desk as close to her brother Jude as she could get. Ever the supportive little sister that she was and she wasn't going to stop! Hiya, Jude! Cue wiggling of her fingers in his direction and the brightest smile ever.
It only took about a minute for her to notice the boxes on the professors desk and then the parchment on her own. A crossword puzzle! Fun! Reaching into her bag for her quill, she got started on the first number across. Time to see how many of these she actually knew

Mercer hefted his bag higher as he slipped into the classroom, initially heading toward Mitsuki and offering the professor only a careless wave... until he spotted the boxes. He veered toward the professor's desk, giving the boxes a close scrutiny. If he'd had a magnifying glass, he could go full detective, but since he didn't even have his (broken) glasses, he settled for squinting at them.
"Hey, professor," Mercer finally gave the man a wave before dropping back and taking a seat by Mitsuki. "Hi. I like your ghosts. I'm going to make mine into a maze, I think. Should it have exits? I feel like it shouldn't only have one, with maybe a trapdoor."

"Sup, Professor H," he grinned, casually making his way into the classroom and glanced at the board as he did so. Latin. Cool. Jasper had no idea what it meant, of course, but he was keen to learn.
.... But not as keen as he was to chat with friends as he found a seat. "Daaaaniel," he knocked his knuckles against his dormmates desk as he walked by, offered Ash a lopsided grin, and then promptly sliiiiiid into a seat next to Matilda.
"Hey," he smiled at the younger Gryffindor before doing a quick scan of the crossword. Jas wasn't in any rush to get that sorted. "Did you get a haircut?"

Entering the classroom, Yukie quickly noticed the boxes in front of the classroom. Her mind immediately parkoured to the fact that if she were to pick a colour, it would be silver. No reason at all. It was an 'if she had to choose one in an instant without thinking about it' kind of thing. Shaking herself back to reality after the brief distraction, the Hufflepuff looked at the Professor and gave him a big smile. "Hi, Professor Holden!" she greeted him.
And of course, she naturally gravitated towards an unoccupied seat near Mitsuki, Mercer, and an older Ravenclaw (Ashley). They got a smile and finger wiggles as a greeting from her, before she sat down and unslung her bag, which was decorated with cute little pins, stickers, and her own attempt at embroidery stitches to recreate tiny flowers and pastries. Becky had told her to express herself, and this was it for Yukie. She also noticed how she was surrounded by Ravenclaws here, but not that she minded. Though Yukie hoped Mozzie would come by soon, since this group could use a bit more house colour.
Seeing the ghosts on her sister's crossword, Yukie's eyes widened in wonder. "Should I draw Pac-Man on mine?" The Hufflepuff asked towards the group. Pac-Man would work very well with Mitsuki's ghosts and Mercer's plan to draw a maze on his paper. Oh, and these crossword questions weren't too difficult too. A relief!

Bella entered the HoM classroom slowly, immediatley spotting the interesting boxes up on the professor's desk in varying sizes and materials. Reading Prof Holden's message she headed over to claim an empty seat a few desks behind Jude and the gang. "Hello Professor Holden!" She greeted politley with a smile before focusing on the crossword puzzle on her desk. Taking up a quill she considered the first question. The answer should be galleons right? The question was for a golden coin so Bella should be right. Writing it down she jumped to question 7 across which should be sickles. Was the lesson going to be about Gringotts perhaps?

"Hello, Professor," Eden said with a smile. Just because she had no intention of trying in this class didn't mean she had to be rude. Right.
She took her seat in the back of the room, waving at Ash and anyone else she knew on the way there. She made a mental note to actually try to hang out with her friends soon before she didn't have friends anymore.
But...yay! This was it. The last year she'd be forced to take her least favorite class. Even if she passed the O.W.L, which Eden doubted she'd so much as crack a book to study for, there were not enough galleons (line one, across) in the world to convince her to sit in this classroom for a minute more than necessary. Her crossword? Untouched. Her curiosity about those boxes? Negligible. Her mind? Already planning an evening run across the grounds.
She had not missed Hogwarts in her year of absence outside of the general spooky-castle ambience and extensive dungeons for potion brewing.
Slytherindor ♛ The Crazytastic Besties ♛ Shan Watson ♛
The first student to appear was Mr. Clarke. Bright, messy red hair contrasted nicely with his very neat uniform. “Hello Mr. Clarke. Welcome.” Surely his sister would be along soon?
Mr. Nam was next. He was usually the first Nam sibling to arrive. He and Maya were consistent; however, the youngest one was… perplexing and certainly a suspect in last year’s office shenanigans. Perhaps he’d press the older Nam later for some intel. “Hello Mr. Nam. Good day, is it?” he offered asking the boy how his day was before watching the young Ravenclaw get to work. Scratch young. Mr. Nam was now a fifth year. Blimey. He had grown quite a bit since the first class in both height and persuasive arguments.
He turned his gaze from Mr. Clarke and Mr. Nam to find Mr. Yoon arriving. “Welcome, Mr. Yoon. Any new mystery books on the list?” he asked, remembering how almost every year, the boy was reading something new. He did not suspect Mr. Yoon in the shenanigans that occurred in the office last term. Then again… .Perhaps he should. Asking for a book a different day would have been the perfect alibi to gain trust… Intriguing theory but Simon thought it was certainly far -fetched. Yes Yoon was fast at work.
Next Miss Cooke greeted him. Ah yes, Miss Cooke. A student who was always consistently early to his lesson and had thoughtful insights to offer. Two things that Simon greatly appreciated. “Welcome Miss Cooke. Summer was good, yes?” he asked, remembering that he hadn’t asked several of his students about their summer in former interactions. He then watched her take a seat next to Mr. Nam. The duo earned a smile from the History of Magic Professor when he saw them working together.
His hunch was correct about Mr. Clarke’s sister. If he had been looking towards the door, he would have noticed her sooner. However, she was quick as a flash and seated next to her brother. Had Simon not greeted her in the moment? “Miss Clarke, I didn’t see you. Welcome.”
Miss Rasting was next to join them. As usual, she looked determined and on a mission. He nodded in greeting to her as she entered and took her seat. “Miss Rasting. Welcome.” He didn’t offer any other comments because he could tell her mind was already at work and he didn’t wish to disturb her. Unbeknownst to him, he had no idea about the little character on her crossword but when he did see her paper, he’d have many questions.
The next student’s entrance was concerning. Normally Mr. Anders seemed to radiate the sun itself through an energetic and happy greeting. Simon felt like he had been slapped at the lackluster and solemn greeting that he received from Mr. Anders. Worry etched across his forehead (causing his wrinkles to become more prominent- much to Simon’s dismay), he asked. “Hello Mr. Anders… uh… Late night?” He would have asked if the lad was alright but didn’t wish to embarrass him so he simply supposed, aloud, that there was a late night. He continued watching the lad take his seat next to his friends. Perhaps his friends would notice the difference in mannerisms too? Simon made note of this impression.
Hmm.. Simon became lost in thought but the very next greeting brought him back. OH! He had been distracted. Next was another first year. Miss Gellar. He had two Gellars now in his lessons. “Hello Miss Gellar. Welcome!” he nodded. Hufflepuff Gellar.
At least Miss Valentine seemed to be in a normal mood. “Hello Miss Valentine. Welcome,” he greeted as he watched her settle momentarily before adjusting his attention to the next student.
Alright. Now he was just confused by the NEXT reaction. Miss Fox was generally never THIS happy in his class. He arched his eyebrow, slightly suspicious of the excitement but also slightly pleased. “Miss Fox. Glad to see the bright energy…” he returned her greeting with a small smile.
Miss Anders was next to arrive and she seemed in a decent enough mood compared to her brother. “Good day, Miss Anders,” he said before keenly observing the interaction between her and her brother. He did wonder how Mr. Anders would react.
Mr Branxton’sgreeting earned a wry smile from Holden. Now that was a greeting reminiscent of his best mate back in school. “Hey Mr. Branxton,” he returned the greeting back. He was happy to see him working with Miss Rasting. He liked when the students collaborated.
Jasper Botros. Sup? Sup, Professor? But Professor H sounded so cool. AHEM. Professor Hat on. Normally Simon would have corrected this sort of greeting but it was both early in the year and he was trying to see more “approachable’ and “hip”. That had been the feedback that he had received LOUDLY from his younger sister when he had run the lesson past her. “Hi Mr. Botros,” he greeted back. He still found it perplexing that he was teaching a Botros. Made him sentimental. Mr. Botros was the right age for the proper suspect in the investigation but he doubted it was him.
Simon smiled as another Rasting entered. Yukie Rasting. “Hello Miss Rasting,” he greeted. He did note her choice to join Marcus and Mitsuki’s discussion. Collaboration was nice to see… even if it wasn’t directly solving the crossword in a conventional way.
Miss Connolly was one of the last to arrive but she was certainly still early in his books. “Miss Connolly. Welcome.” Miss Connolly wasted no time with diving into the task at hand which brought a smile to his face.
And the last student to arrive was Miss Tilly. It was nice to see her return. “Welcome Miss Tilly. Good to see you,” he nodded, watching her head to her desk and then noted that she didn’t touch her crossword. He turned to look at his notes for the lesson on the desk instead.
Simon scanned the room, looking to see what progress the students had made. He saw some interesting solutions to the crossword - blank pages, drawings, and whatnot. Eyebrow arched, he continued scanning the room before reaching into his pocket to pull his watch out. “You have about five more minutes before we move on….” he said and slipped the watch back into his pocket.
Right. Time was up. “The answers will appear on the back of your crossword page in green ink. That was the solution to the puzzle.” He paused, waiting for the students to look at it before moving on with the lesson.
"Three questions to kick off our lesson today. The first: Can anyone venture a guess into what today's lesson is about? The second: What do you think are inside these three boxes in front of me?" he asked, pausing to almost Ivana White the three boxes in front of him. "And lastly what does the saying Fortius Quo Fidelius mean?" With his last question, he tapped the chalkboard next to him.
Cool blue eyes scanned the classroom looking for the first hand to be raised.
Simon smirked and thought. Not all at once now.
He prompted the class. "A Knut for your thoughts?"
OOC: Alright! First question of the lesson today, folks! Sorry for the delay - saw Dr. Strange and am headed out for my Dad’s 63rd bday.
Feel free to answer ONE of the questions If you want, you can answer more but only necessary to answer one to get full points. We'll move on in 24 hours.

Late night? If Professor Holden only knew. “Something like that, Sir,’’ Jude replied flatly but politely. It was easier to say rather than explaining that he had major issues sleeping. On a normal day, he would have made a crack at the wrinkles {maybe even throw in a little joke about gray hairs too} but not today. Instead of doing his crossword, Jude doodled musical notes symbols. He ignored everyone except Keigh. He had wondered how long it would be until his shadow got there. Jude waved his quill at her while giving her a small smile then he promptly went back to his doodling.
It was only due to his attempts to play things normal did he flip the crossword over. His doodles printed through quite clearly in one corner of the back of the page, the reverse side of where the doodles were done.
The Hufflepuff raised his hand about halfway up. “Fortius Quo Fidelius means ‘Strength Through Loyalty’.” It was one of the mottos of someplace here in the Wizarding World. And the quote had stuck with him because he was big on loyalty.
When the Slytherin arrived earlier, she had taken a seat away from her brother, which meant that she had found herself in the back of the classroom - aka one of her least favorite spots. Though she supposed growth spurts were advantageous that way since she could at least see the chalkboard with the Gringotts motto scrawled across it.
Based off of that and the crossword with its currency-centric answers, the answer to the professor's question didn't seem too difficult.
"Since you have the Gringotts motto on the board, it seems like you might have Wizarding currency inside the boxes."
Was he planning on doling out money instead of house points? This was definitely a lesson Maya could get behind.

Mercer was definitely paying attention, even if his quill was busily sketching out the lines of his maze. No one had an opinion on exits, so he went with no exit, but a trapdoor. And Suki's ghosts could haunt it. He'd tell her later. When Yukie showed up, Mercer flashed her a grin and then pressed his nose back up to his paper. He missed his glasses, ugh.
Three questions... and the older kids were already answering them. Something about money, about Gringott's. Boxes full of cold, hard cash. And the saying... Mercer glanced up at that, because it was a weird one. Strength through... loyalty. Where was Milo? "I think we're going to be learning about the ancient Order of the Badger, the Hufflepuff cult where they brainwash you by feeding you too much puddings." Was that right?
Lily had been quietly in the classroom. Quieter than she had meant to so it was almost as if she had never been there – but she had, since before the class had started. Still from her desk she looked at her paperwork and twirled her hair in her finger and looked at the crossword again and again.
Ah, she’d close.
She started noting down the intersecting letters for no reason. G – B – M – N – G – S. Did it mean anything – probably not ... but it could. Raising her hand she waited to be picked on. ”as Maya Nam pointed out the boxes all contain money or maybe just the metals they are made from?” she paused for a second, ”i might go further and say it could be money allocated to the dance later this year? ... and maybe we have to set up the whole budget for the dance?” they did say all the students could be involved hadn’t they?

Moving on from ghosts and scribbling out their flight paths, Mitsuki considered moving on to practicing some of her calligraphy on a considerably smaller scale than her performance calligraphy demanded. She did have twenty strokes to perfect before summer rolled around and find a suitable piece of music to perform to. She had only gotten as far as dipping her quill back in the inkwell when Ashley Fox slid into the seat beside her and once again that curious tingling agitated her cheeks. Since the older girl had slid into the seat silently, Mitsuki did not interrupt her and instead turned her attention towards Mercer who had also joined her.
"Did you lose your glasses in the maze?" she inquired as she peered towards his paper as though she would spot them within the little squares somewhere. "If it is a maze, then it must have exits. If it doesn't, then it's IKEA." That was something dad had said once when they all had gone shopping for some furniture for Becky's apartment.
It took a exaggerated moment for her to process what it was her sister was expressing and even then she had no solid recollection. Why Yukie would want to draw a packed man (which conjured imagery of a man folded up inside of a box) was a curious notion and caused a pause as Mitsuki tilted her head to look at her sister curiously. However, between another older Ravenclaw girl entering and waving in their direction (another pause for confusion, but also reminiscent of the out of place familiarity the girl had displayed at the start-of-term feast) and the professor beginning class, Mitsuki had no opportunity to question her sister's motivations.
The corners of her lips turned downwards slightly as the green ink showed through slightly on her ghosts and ruined the whole aesthetic. She turned the paper over and gave everything a cursory look over, seeing the answers without really seeing the answers, and then lay the paper back down on her desk with her quill back in the inkwell for more in and then back to her parchment to write down the professor's questions.
Quote:
can anyone venture a guess into what today's lesson is about?
yes.
what do you think are inside these three boxes in front of me?
i do not know.
what does the saying fortius quo fidelius mean?
the more faithful, the stronger.
a knut for your thoughts?
yes.
Yes, she could venture a guess based on very little information...though she preferred not to, just as she preferred not to speculate on the contents of the boxes and be disappointed when it was not that which she would have liked it to be. She had already transcribed the Latin's English on her crossword paper, so that task had already been accomplished. It was his fourth question that drew the majority of her attention.
"I would like a knut, professor."
She had offered a thought just now. A thought based in a casual desire, to be precise.

A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
Oblivious that he was a suspect in a prank that had taken place the previous term, Daniel nodded his head and opened up his bag to show him his current read. "Over the summer, my father was able to find a box set of Agatha Christie's work." he said, his face almost glowing with 'happiness.' "I'm currently reading ABC Murders. It tells the story of a private investigator assigned with capturing a serial killer who murders people with alliterative names. I'm not very far in, but so far it is good and..."
Jasper halted his ramblings as he walked*past his desk and knocked on it as a hello. He had to admit that he appreciated the interruption because he was feeling embarrassed. ”So…yeah…” He put the book back in his bag and returned to working on the puzzle.
After completing the puzzle, he noted with displeasure that he had one question wrong and pushed the puzzle to the corner of his desk.
Daniel raised an eyebrow in response to Mercer's words. ” You think it's the pudding?" he said cryptically, feeding in on the 'badger brainwash cult' conspiracy because it was ridiculously funny before he scribbled down the quote on the board in his notebook.
As he listened to Jude explain what the quote on the board meant, it started to appear familiar. When Maya (his ears turned bright red as he turned his head*to face her) said that it was Gringrotts' motto, the Hufflepuff let out a faint 'oh' as he saw the bank's emblem in his mind's eye. She was correct."So the lead box correlates with knuts. The silver box with the sickles and the golden box with galleons?". He added to Lily’s words. ” Is that box made from real gold or leprechaun gold, sir?" And if it was real, could he have it?

As she waited for her other classmates and for the class to start, Yukie worked her way through the crossword and jot down all that she knew. The easy ones were...easy! Duh. So those were answered first. She glanced at Mercer and then only realised her friend wasn't wearing glasses. "Where are your glasses? Did you lose them? Do you need help finding them? I've been told Hufflepuff are good finders," she said in low volume. Looking back at her crossword now, the Hufflepuff eventually paused with solving it when she no longer knew the answers to the other hints, so she instead filled in the Os in her paper to look like little cookies and then drew her Pac-Mans trying to eat them.
A work of art. A masterpiece. Yukie was incredibly pleased with herself at how it was looking so far. Plus, she would have been more than ready to defend herself had her sister gotten the opportunity to question her motivations. Yukie interpreted the curious look from Mitsuki as a request to look at her crossword, and so she lifted it, with a big smile, to show her sister. Look! Pac-Mans and cookies everywhere!
When class was announced to start, Yukie blinked at her paper and flipped it to reveal the answers. Oh, wonderful! She went ahead and copied those to her own crossword so it looks filled up, all while listening to the professor's introductory questions, and even took the liberty to use green ink for them. Now, her paper with the now finished crossword was looking better than ever. She hoped Professor Holden would appreciate the art she made her if he were to collect these at the end of the session.
Back to the actual lesson now. Yukie gave Mercer a surprised look for his answer. Order of the Badger? Brainwashing? Too much pudding? Nobody could ever have too much pudding! What a concept, that was. With that, Yukie turned to the professor to give her answer. "I think there is money money money in the boxes, sir!" See the reference there, Professor? Yukie found herself funny for it. "Why not a sickle or a galleon for our thoughts, Professor?" The littlest Rasting also added. Since Mitsuki kinda brought that up, and Yukie wouldn't be opposed to an extra coin to her savings.
