The large spare classroom on the ground floor is today home to a special activity between the Drama Club and the Art Club at Hogwarts. The room has been enchanted to be much larger than usual, so large that it now accommodates a small stage at the far back. Although the stage isn’t the most noticeable thing about the current setup up but rather the large unpainted backdrops, unmade scenery pieces and plethora of art supplies that have been scattered around the tables.
Along the left side wall are a series of mannequins, pieces of fabrics and old clothing and an assortment of haberdashery for creating costumes with. The floor is covered in tarpaulin to prevent any spillages from seeping through to the ancient stone floors, Professor Fergersnout and Monsieur Feirgrund do not want to be on the receiving end of a stern telling off from the House Elves after all.
Also on each table is a copy of ‘The Tales of Beedle the Bard’, the book on which the Drama Club has been creating their own modern day retelling of its stories for their final showcase in June. Fergersnout had given her students free rein on the way in which they told the stories whether it be by monologue, a musical theatre composition or comedic play, just as long as the original story was somewhat recognisable from the retelling. On the other side supplied by Feirgrund are some fresh paint cans and brushes, although they appear to be in short supply, could there be an alternative way to decorate?
Today’s activity was designed to be an amalgamation of the two clubs to work together and create all the set pieces, costumes and special effects for the showcase. The two Professors could be found stood on the stage awaiting the arrival of the students and to give further instructions.
OOC: Welcome to our (Lottiepot & Charely Potter) shared group activity for the term! This meeting is obviously non-compulsory but is a fun way to join two of Hogwarts extracurricular activities together. All students and faculty are welcome to join in at any time during its duration.

Aryan wasn’t quite sure what he was doing here?
Neither Art nor Drama was his thing. He was most likely to epically screw up a prop but he did promise himself that he would try his utmost not to. In any case, the second year rather enjoyed The Tales of Beedle the Bard so perhaps that love was what had led him here.
Entering the spare classroom, the baby of the Atreyu-Rehman clan first took the time to give Fergersnout and Feirgrund the usual finger wiggle-wave, though Feirgrund was also on the receiving end of a suspicious squint for… reasons; reasons only which he and Jan knew about. Said squint was so brief that one would wonder if they had imagined it.
Greetings out of the way, Ary approached a table towards the back and made himself comfortable. This is going to be super interesting, he told himself. | |

As someone who loved both art and drama, naturally Vera had set aside time to join in the activities of the day. The art club was nothing she'd ever been apart of, considering anything she DID create took hours upon hours of practice and preparation before it was presentable. But the drama club was one she had happily re-enrolled in this term now that the OWLs were behind her and she had additional time on her hands once more. Should she have kept her schedule open in preparation of next year? Maybe. But could one fault the girl for wanting to have some extra fun while she had the chance?
Making her way into the room, she gave wide smiles to Professor Fergersnout and her Head of House, offering a quick, "Hello, Professors!" before she made her way to plop into the open seat in the back next to Aryan. "Howdy, stranger." She offered in greeting, poking the boy gently in the arm as she settled.

Bronwen had joined the art club this term, wanting to make friends of her own that weren't ... related to her. (Though, as it turns out, joining a club isn't a magic fix for that). Coincidentally, she was considering drama as well, though she hadn't joined this year, maybe she'd tag on next term.
So it was fantastic that both clubs were meeting together today. Maybe this could be her way of sussing out the vibes??
In any case, she made her way into the classroom, offering the two other students present a small smile as she passed by their table. "Hi Professors," she dipped her head in greeting as she walked by the stage to find an empty spot at one of the unoccupied tables.

Ean was particularly thrilled about the meeting. With Apollonia leading the Drama Club's upcoming adaptation of The Tales of Beedle the Bard, it seemed fitting to align with his Art Club. Designing and painting were their main activities, plus anyone not officially a part of the club could come and volunteer as they please. Only took an extra bit of magic with transforming the room to fit everything.
Eventually, the students began arriving. He returned the wave from Master Atreyu-Rehman. Hmm, did he just imagine the slight change in his expression? Well, no need to think about that, "Hello there, Miss Thanatos," One of the shining representatives in his house. Followed by another student, "Hello, Miss Grimaldi," It was looking to be an eventful time here.
Eventually enough had arrived for things to get started, "Welcome everyone," Feirgrund addressed the students surrounding, "As you already know from our noticeboard, the two clubs are working together today. Professor Fergersnout will be working with the Drama camp regarding the upcoming play. Discussing ideas on with your favorite tales of the Beedle the Bard." As for the Art Club participates, "As for painting, there are some brushes and fresh paint, but if you would like to paint some of the props with magic. You're also welcome to do both!" Especially if they wanted to do more than one activity.
For those wanting to paint with magic, "To paint with magic, you just simply tap the part you want to start painting with Coloro, followed by the desired color," For example as he took the prop meant to resemble a stump, "Coloro Brown," Presento, brown paint appeared as he did a quick stroke, followed by, "Finite," Stopping it at once. "Now let's have some fun," Feirgrund last said.

Well wasn’t this dreadfully exciting?
It had seemed an obvious direction that Feirgrund and Fergersnout (whose matching names did cause a little amusement) combine their clubs for an activity this term considering there was a lot they could do to help each other. Apollonia herself wasn’t artistic, not in the painting creative sense and would naturally be disastrous when it came to her attempts at painting backdrops, her talents lay firmly in the performing arts camp. Ask her to perform an operatic aria and she would stand on the stage and belt it out without a care in the world. She’d spare the students of such a performance on this occasion.
The History of Magic Professor too greeted the students as they arrived one by one, her (slightly less than usual) pointed hat bobbing as her head nodded to each. “Welcome, welcome!”
The gathering had so far been small but it didn’t matter. The activity wasn’t compulsory after all and students were free to join whenever they so wished. Ean began explaining what they were hoping to achieve and the Professor nodded along with what he was saying. “I think everything has been covered pretty well. The only thing I’d like to add is that it would be wonderful if you could all work together. I’m sure that some of my drama students are fabulous at art and vice versa so don’t feel that you can’t get involved in both.”
“And quickly before you all wander off and without looking in those books, can anyone tell us an example of a story in the Tales of Beedle the Bard and a piece of scenery or costume you think could go with that story?” For inspiration of course!

Dhruv had taken their time to finish up grading a stack of fifth year essays. The task had left them with a mild headache because while there were some essays that were well researched and written, there were a few that were not. A professor could always tell when a student put their heart into academics, especially a professor who had a fair bit of teaching history under their belt. They’d have to have a one-on-one with the latter group of students whose essay they graded but for now…
“Apollonia, Ean,’’ Dhruv said with a small grin, greeting their coworkers. “Don’t mind me. Just here to join in on the fun.” With that, they set off further into the room. “Ms. Grimaldi,’’ the acknowledged on their way to… ah, where did they sit? That question was soon answered when they spotted Adi’s son and Vera. “Ms. Thanatos. Mr. Atreyu-Rehman. Mind if I join you two?”
Ary wasted no time in poking Vera right back. The two shared a relationship like that, uh huh. “Howdy, cowgirl,’’ he said cheekily. “Now you need a pair of boots and a hat to go along with that title.” He dearly wanted to poke good fun at Vera for some more but their DADA professor turned up and asked to sit with them. Ary threw Uncle Professor Khanna a sus look, much like the one he had given Feirgrund. “Hi, Professor. I don’t mind.” Did Vera?
Even though his mind was working about how he could use Khanna’s presence for his and Jan’s mission, the second year rested his gaze on the professors, in turn, who were hosting the activity. Oh. Lovely. Learning a new charm today was just what he needed! As for that question…
His hand went up in the air almost instantly. “There’s The Wizard and the Hopping Pot. Um… maybe we need smart clothing for the father. Since he was kind and helpful, and people were always visiting him, I think he would have dressed simple but always neatly.” | |

Desiree was more than a little excited for this activity. Although she wasn’t in the drama club, art had been on her list of extracurriculars for all seven terms at Hogwarts. Dressed for the occasion in the same oversized paint-splattered hoodie she wore to every messy art activity, she made her way to the spare classroom. Her bright blue eyes lit up at the sight of the fabrics and mannequins. Fashion design? Yes, please! If anyone needed her, that’s what she would be doing!
She was so excited by the costumes that she nearly forgot to greet professors. Oops!“Hello, Professor Fergersnout, Professor Feirgrund, Professor Khanna,” she greeted, smiling and waving to each in turn. More smiles and waves followed for the other students. ‘Hi, Ary! Hi, Vera! Hi, Bronwyn!” She took a seat at the nearest table, already brainstorming ideas for costumes.
Desiree was so lost in thought that she almost missed Professor Feirgrund’s spell demonstration. She shut the book, glancing up just in time to see the brown paint stroke appear on the prop. Ooh, could that spell be used to paint fabric too? That would make costume designing so much easier! Before she could ask about it, Professor Fergersnout said the magic word. Asdfjkl!!! She wanted Desiree to name just one costume?
Her thoughts turned to her favorite tale, The Fountain of Fair Fortune, and her hand shot into the air. “My favorite is The Fountain of Fair Fortune,” she said. “One of the three witches in the story is Amata. Her name means “beloved”, and she gets a romance in the story. If I was designing a costume for her, I’d use soft colors, delicate embellishments, and lots of pink to foreshadow her romance. Another is Altheda. She starts off in poverty, so her costume should look old and worn. Maybe in greens and earth tones to hint at her talent for healing?”
As for the remaining protagonist Asha, Desiree had an idea for that too, but it was odd. The first thing that came to mind was a Disney character of the same name. What if she took some style hints from that Asha? Maybe a dress in a similar cut, but instead of purple, do it in drab shades of gray or beige. Normally looking washed out was a fashion don’t, but in this case, it would give the actress a sickly appearance. Could you tell she was excited for this activity?

Emma was here for the art aspect of the club ... or at least that was what she was telling herself. She wasn't an artist unless one counted dancing as art. Which might actually put her more aligned with a drama extracurricular. But only if the drama production involved dancing - maybe it would be some sort of musical theater production?
She arrived as the female Professor F was talking about the Tales of Beedle the Bard.... Ary and Desiree each bringing up a different story. So she might as well continue that trend instead of adding to the stories that they mentioned. "There's the one about the three brothers..." She stood up from sitting cross-legged, and as she did so, her adolescent lankiness was getting the best of her and she knocked over the paint cans, which there probably wasn't enough of anyway to paint all the scenes needed. Flustered she looked back at the spilled paint and completely blanked on what she was going to say as she watched the colours bleeding together to form a colourful pool on the floor.

The arrival of a fellow Professor was always appreciated, especially in a situation that could get as messy as this. “Hello Dhruv” she tipped her hat politely at them. “Now tell me, are you more on the theatrical side or the artistic side?” They gave her the impression that they were good at everything.
It might not have been a compulsory activity but that didn’t mean that the students were exempt from receiving praise for their contributions. That and Apollonia truly appreciated any form of enthusiasm from the young chickens. “Yes, that’s a great example Mr Atreyu-Rehman. He was also trying to blend into the Muggle world so I imagine he would’ve tried to copy their clothing style too. Although Wizards of that age weren’t always the best when it came to those matters” she chuckled. Thankfully Fergersnout barely found herself in the Muggle community as she would’ve stuck out like a sore thumb with her own questionable fashion choices. It couldn’t be helped that she loved bold colours, especially purple. “Speaking of the Hopping Pot, how do you think we could use magic to portray that?” It wasn’t JUST scenery and costumes they had to think about but the potential for special effects too (although she would look to Feirgrund for assistance there, charms were his speciality. )
Fergersnout was surprised that Desiree wasn’t more involved in the drama club as their conversation in the costume closet earlier in the year had indicated that she had some interest in the theatrical arts. What didn’t come as a surprise was her interest in designing the costumes. “Excellent ideas Miss Marchand. Feel free to explore the selection of fabrics we have collected, I look forward to seeing the results.”
She supposed that it shouldn’t be a surprise that an activity that involved several open cans of paint wouldn’t end up in a messy disaster considering the Professors had pre-planned with the tarpaulin. Poor Miss Montmorency looked all flustered. “That’s certainly one way to fill a canvas” she chortled.

Ean was just as pleased seeing their fellow Professor colleague and a good friend to him, "Hello, Dhruv, the more the merrier," So of course he didn't mind them joining in too. Before welcoming the new arrivals, such as Miss Marchand and Miss Montmorency.
Perhaps Feirgrund was so intrigued with the answers and suggestions in-between his painting that he didn't realize the circumstance until a series of buckets were kicked open onto the floor. Some of the colors that blended together into a muddy brown, whilst the colors of fresh green, red, blue, and yellow splattered else where. He blinked at the circumstance, "Well, it looks like Miss Montmorency helped re-create a scene of The Wizard and the Hopping Pot, well done," Smiling in approval. There would be a number of suggestions for ways they could use magic to portray the story as he flicked his wand to sit the cans upright again. Though the paint was left for prosperity. He would be happy to add some suggestions after enough shared their thoughts. "There's enough in here left to replicate," Ean tapped the top on one of the open paint cans to refill the green inside to near the top again. As he refilled it, he added another question, "Should the pot be a specific color?" Since there was plenty of options besides the ordinary black pewter cauldron pot.

Ary had enthusiastically wiggle-waved in Desiree’s direction when she had arrived. He thought he detected correctly her level of excitement for this activity. Wasn’t she a part of the Art Club? Anyway, he did like her response to the question; he would never say no to shades of green. Emma’s mention of the Tale of Three Brothers was definitely one of Aryan’s favourite. It had always fascinated him how cunning the last brother was. Further thoughts were interrupted when his friend accidentally knocked over some of the paint can. Fortunately there was no harm done and Feirgrund easily replaced the spilt paint.
The second year considered Fergersnout’s question. “Um… the Softening Charm? It helps make the targeted area soft and bouncy which could work for making the Pot jump.” That was just one option; he also thought that a variation of a Levitation Charm might work. “And no, the Pot… or cauldron… should be whatever colour is decided by anyone bringing the story to life.”
Dhruv was rather settled in quite comfortably with Aryan and Vera. They had also returned Desiree’s greeting, the Hufflepuff seemingly extra chipper today. And naturally when things got on the way, they paid attention to the individual answers, much like they would as though this were one of the lessons or activities hosted by them. Emma mentioned his all time favourite Bard story. It was the perfect example of no matter how much you tried to escape something as sure as death, such attempts were futile.
Through all of this discussion, Dhruv remained silent. It was not until the question of the Pot’s colour came up did they volunteer an answer. “Sky blue has a nice, soothing aura, doesn’t it? It symbolises trust, and those Muggles indeed placed their trust in that old Wizard.” | |
