Late in the afternoon, Professor June is waiting for you outside the greenhouses. It's cloudy and maybe it'll rain, but she has her fingers crossed it won't. Nobody likes muddy shoes after all, and frankly the former Gryffindor wasn't sure the greenhouses could survive another wave of unpredictable weather. The storm last term had not been kind at all.

As you approach the greenhouses you'll notice the chalkboard is set up outside, and wooden stools have been randomly set up for you to sit. Come on down and take a seat, Professor June is almost done with her tea and class will begin soon.

Fiona looked briefly upwards at the cloudy sky. She was nervous about the weather thanks in part to what had occurred the previous term. As she reached Professor Flamsteed, Fiona smiled and greeted with a, "Good afternoon, Professor Flamsteed." The Slytherin teenager then sat down on one of the wooden stools.

Days when you could smell rain in the air were nice days, Cecelia had decided. She liked the idea of puddle jumping and a cozy fireplace hangout while rain pounded on windowpanes, though she hadn’t QUITE considered how such conditions would mess with class. Funny considering her arrival to Herbology.

Spotting Professor F, the blonde grinned and offered her a friendly wave. ”Hi Professor!” She wished she had some tea too, did June know? Tea was tea-rrific. Oh well, maybe later.

Watching the big grey clouds in the sky on her walk down to the greenhouses, Amira hoped and prayed no rain would come down on her. She had just spent 30 minutes picking out the perfect outfit and she would hate for it (and her hair) to get even a little wet. As she pulled up to her Herbology class, she noticed they were going to be outside and that made her even more nervous. Surely they weren't going to be outside the whole time?

"Hi Professor," Amira gave her a small smile and sat down on a stool a near the middle. "Could I maybe hold my umbrella up during class? Y'know, just in case...." She'd even be willing to sit in the back so no one's view would be blocked.

ACTUALLY. Josh did not mind muddy shoes. He had had his fair share of sneakers caked in the stuff while doing his quidditch workouts in downpours since, well, you know... had to be prepared for all kinds of weather as a quidditch player. Either way, the Gryffindor was more of a flip the hoodie on and keep walking whenever it did rain and therefore had headed down to the greenhouses sans any umbrella in hand. If it got TOO bad he could just produce one from his wand anyway so he was not particularly fussed.

Having anything but a green thumb, the sixth year had considered dropping Herbology now that OWLs were over and he could afford to drop things and just focus on what he needed for NEWT level...but he had made the very conscious effort not to drop this one as initially planned. Let's just say that there may have been a bit of scrambling the day after the opening feast to rework his schedule a bit to add it back in.

...anyway.

Grinning as he approached the array of stools, Josh took one riiiiiiight up near the front and as close as a stool could provide to Professor Flamsteed. "Hello, professor,"he greeted with a bit of determination that today he would not have a completely 'blank brain' - though seeing as he was always a well-intended disaster of a person...that was a little optimistic.

Another plant class, another day of trudging out to the greenhouses without being introduced to even one flesh eater. It had to be a crime to be so close to them and not be able to pop in for a peep. If this sort of trend continued, Emmerson would have to take it up with the professor for sure. Maybe take Kizzy along for begging support.

It couldn't hurt.

"Hello Professor." She greeted, picking a stool at random that just happened to be near Cece...so perhaps not that random afterall. "Can we play with the Venemous Tentaculas today? I have my dragonhide gloves with me and I promise I won't die." Which, if her mother could be believed, was about the best promise you could make at Hogwarts.

If you said you wouldn't die, you were more likely to be introduced to all kinds of things.

Idly, the girl reached her foot over to nudge at Cece's stool. HI SISTER IN (pretend) LAW!

Actually, Ashley didn't mind the rain. She liked water. She nodded to the professor, resisting the urge to pull out some markers. She sat down. Herbology. Not her best subject, but it could have been worse. She distracted herself before class started by remembering her most interesting memories. Surfing, being lit on fire, making friends, that sort of stuff. She shifted, wanting to get this class over with. It was time for dinner. Or free time. Or homework time.

Oh, no!! It was going to rain soon! Valentina looked up at the dark clouds as she made her way to her next lesson, not feeling her usual cheerful self. She wouldn’t be able to hang out by the duck pond later, which was SAD, but maybe she could use the extra time to finish her homework instead. Yes, good plan.

“Hello, Professor!” She sat down on one of the stools, absently playing with the ends of her hair.

Her new very dark green gloves fit - well - like gloves. She did a few stretches with her hands just to test their limits and was quite pleased with the sound the fake!leather made. It was with a small smile that she arrived outside the greenhouses. This woman had a relaxing aura, did she know? It made Aboli slow!blink and slouch a little as she took a seat on a stump near Josh. But then she remembered prefects DID NOT SLOUCH and she sat up straight.

"Good day, Professor," Aboli said lazily, still enamored with the soothing presence of Professor June. She did miss Rainwater, but at least someone competent had taken his place.

Avalon didn't mind the rain, but boy did she mind muddy shoes. Especially when she was wearing her nice boots. Luckily, she had noticed the cloudy sky when she was getting ready for classes this morning and had opted to wear her old shoes instead. Herbology was usually pretty messy anyway. She had learned to never wear any good accessories or shoes into the greenhouses, unless you wanted dragon dung all over them by the end of the lesson.

"Good afternoon, Professor," Avalon said as she selected a seat. Even though it was cloudy, she was glad they were having class outside. They might as well take advantage of the weather now before winter arrived.

Naya enjoyed her walk to the greenhouses. She hoped it wouldn’t rain, but she was prepared just in case. As she reached her destination, she noted the stools set up outside. Good thing she had brought her rain gear. “Hello Professor”, she said, as she approached the gathering group.

Finding an empty stool, Naya sat down and placed her backpack on the ground. Then she took out all of her necessities for class. Now she just had to wait.....wait and wonder what they would be working on today.

A walk outside, down to the greenhouses always cleared Cole's head and put him in a good mood. This day was no different even if the omnious gray clouds most likely promised rain. A little rain wasn't so bad unless it began pouring on them then Cole's mood would dropp. He disliked getting mostly his shoes full of mud. Entering the gathering outside the greenhouse he waved cheerily over at their professor. "Afternoon Professor Flamsteed. Can we grow mandrakes today?" That'd be fun....Cole then went over to sit down in the vacant stool next to his girlfriend. "Hi Naya, any guesses on what plants we'll be working with today?"

Rainy days were only fun if you could go outside and play in the rain. Otherwise, they were a waste. Not really because Kinsay knew that plants needed the water and that all the grass would die without rainfall, but it was a waste for Kinsay. Unless it was nearing bedtime and her daddy was reading stories while the rain danced outside and helped her fall asleep. She thought that was good too.

But she'd like it even more if she could play in it. "Hi Professor," she tried her best to look extra cute as she walked up to the area. "If it rains can we stay outside and jump in the puddles?" Please, please, please, PLEASE?

Kizzy waved at Emm and Cece as she went to find a stool. Usually she'd go sit right next to Emm, but maybe they needed alone time to talk about Sammy. Kizzy didn't mind because she knew Emm would tell her everything later. She knew family stuff could be complicated. Spotting a stool nearby, Kizzy made her way over and set her bag down by her feet. Her spot just so happened to be next to her other dormmate (Valentina), so she received a tiny grin too.

As weird as it was, Stella loved days like this, in her mind it was nice cuddle by the fire with nice book weather. Even if was suppose to rain she wouldn't mind it, she loved the rain and watching it. Walking happily down the greenhouse she inhaled the smell of rain hitting her bose making her smile more. Walking towards the greenhouse she smiled. "Hello Professor hope you're well, looks like it might rain." Walking in she put her stuff on the table in front of the classroom where she always sat.

Seeing Cole and Naya she smiled and waved at them. "Hey Cole, hey Naya what do you think we're learning about?" She was curious about what they were learning about, plus wanted to see what her fellow lions abd lioness mates thought. Herbology after all was one of her best subjects that she thrived the most in out of all subjects.

This herbology lesson appeared that it would take place outside ... and glancing at the skies it didn't look promising that this was going to a dry lesson. Blake vaguely thought about last's years storm .... that couldn't happen 2 years in a row right??? Hogwarts had a lot of strange things happen over the hundreds of years ... but the same thing two years in a row??? Nope ...

"Hello Professor, looks like I should have brought am umbrella.." Blake added looking up again ..... maybe it would hold off ... maybe ..

The sky was not looking all that sunny for an outdoor lesson, Kale observed as he approached the growing group of his peers, but he wasn't afraid of a lil rain. In fact, the fourth year almost dared the sky to open up and pour down on them. Tbh, Kale had always dreamed about being Gene Kelly. He could perform some Singin' in the Rain if things got dicey.

With an eager grin, he smiled at the Herbology Professor and chirped, "Good afternoon, Professor!" He nearly sang his hellos to the tune of Good Mornin' but the lesson was still early. Kale would wait for the rainfall.

Heath briefly glanced up at the sky as he made his way to the greenhouses. He did not like the look of that sky! It looked like it could rain at any moment. He hoped it would hold off until after class, but he’d survive if it didn’t. There were much worse things in life than mud and rain. At any rate, at least the sky wasn’t red! He shook his head, trying to block out the memories of last term’s weather phenomenon.

“Good afternoon, Professor Flamsteed,” he greeted the professor with a polite nod of acknowledgement. His dark eyes scanned the area for a familiar face. Not seeing Claudine anywhere, he took the first open seat he saw and set his bag down. What were they doing today? The scenery didn’t provide a hint, unless… He noticed the professor’s tea and wondered if they were doing a lesson on tea plants. Now that was something he could get into!

Violet approached the Herbology class without enthusiasm. She still felt out of things after having missed that year and felt awkward being a year older than most of the other Second Years. She used to be so enthusiastic about school her first year, but after the events of last summer, she could barely muster up enough interest to get her books and get to class.

She glanced up when she saw other students doing so. Clouds rolling in. People looked nervous, anxious about the possibility of rain, she supposed. She didn't care if it did--let it come down! Maybe a good downpour would get her out of her funk.

Lucas didn't really care about the rain. After all these years in this country, the rain was pretty normal. But there was a small part of his brain that couldn't help but remember last year's ~storm~ and what it brought along with it. Uh, that wasn't going to happen again, right? One year had been enough, as far as he was concerned.

He eyed the cloudy skies as he made his way down to the greenhouses. Sure, there was nothing weird about it - it just looked like your normal cloudy day - but you couldn't be too sure, right? Wasn't that what Trent was always trying to tell them?

But it was as he approached the greenhouses that he looked down and-

......... oh. The lesson was taking place outside?

Lucas immediately felt a sense of dread settle in as he glanced up at the sky again. Well, this should be interesting, right? "Good afternoon, Professor," he called, giving her a small smile as he went to sit down on an empty stool that was..... somewhere. Somewhere empty and alone.

Charlie absolutely 100% was not thrilled for this class. Not only was it outside, but she was fairly certain that no matter how much they all hoped the rain would hold off it would inevitably begin to rain. She had stuffed her Gryffindor red raincoat into her bag, had her glittery red rain boots on her feet, and her charmed cloak to keep her dry. She really hoped they wouldn't be getting wet. Her already full curls would look way worse.

Taking in who all had arrived she gave a quiet "Hello Professor" glanced at the board and found a seat. This was one class she tried to draw as little attention as possible.

Claudine always missed Rainwater. Each and every lesson. She missed his crazy shenanigans and his energy. She missed the way he’d always encourage them to do their best. She missed the way he never got offended whenever she told him that his extrovert habits wore out the introvert in her. For these reasons, the fourth year was taking some time to warm up to Flamsteed.

“Professor. Good afternoon,’’ came her stiff greeting, not even bother to look anywhere one Flamsteed’s face. Not to worry, Professor. Claudine usually took a while to warm up to others. She sat on the stool next to the first friend she found, which happened to be Fiona. “Hey, Fiona.’’

Only then did the girl actually glance around at everyone else there. Oh, there was Heath. She gave him a small smile in acknowledgement then busied herself with preparing for the lesson.

Catherine didn't know why certain professors thought it was a good idea to have class outside when it looked like it was going to rain. Getting dirty and muddy didn't help their attention span and their notes would be soaking by the end of the lesson. Nothing good came from sitting for a class in the rain. Nothing.

The Ravenclaw still took a seat where they were meant to and waited. She wasn't sure whether to get her note-taking material out yet because she didn't want to get any of her stuff wet. Then again, she also didn't want to miss the opportunity to write new things down, so she was conflicted. Hopefully it wouldn't rain after all.

She greeted the professor with a look and the slightest head nod and decided to wait until class started to get her things out, just in case.

Mamie was pleased to see that Professor Flamsteed had set up their Herbology class outside today. Class in the greenhouses was better than classes inside the castle, but it was even better when they got to actually be outside.

"Good afternoon, Professor!" she greeted the woman cheerfully. She took a seat on one of the wooden stools nearest the chalkboard, but did not get out her note-taking supplies. It seemed like it would be a little awkward to write on her lap on a stool. Plus, it looked like it might rain. She'd just try to remember and write things down when she got back to her dormitory after classes.

Bernie felt like she had a different Herbology professor every year almost. This one, though, was by far the prettiest. Maybe she'd help her grasp the subject better? It wasn't likely, but a girl could dream.

She came in as usual and took a seat on a stool near a little Hufflepuff kid, who received a nod. Now what would they be studying today? PLEASE, nothing involving dung or fertilizer, PLEASE.

Nem had no time for plants. They knew about them, sure, they read up on them for classes and then ahead for certain potions and other things they were looking into, they knew their uses and dangers and whatever, but that was about their limit. Never had Nemesis understood why some people made such a big deal out of them. Plants were dull.

Then again, there was that whole crossbreeding lesson from last year. If Nem put time into making one of their own ideas a reality, then this stuff wouldn't be boring.

The point was, Herbology was whatever. Taught by a Flamsteed too, a name Nem had heard a few times even before Hogwarts, and usually to do with what's-his-name. Whatever.

Maybe all of this was contributing to Nem arriving to class with a face like thunder, or maybe it was something else entirely. They appeared to be in no mood for... well, for anything, and yet here they were, dropping into the seat by Vegetable Trent. An Anything if ever there was one. Probably closer to an Everything.

"Afternoon," was Nem's short greeting. To Flamsteed. To Trent. To whoever.
