| | |  Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park to open in Japan in late 2014
According to the Los Angeles Times, Universal Studios will announce tomorrow plans to build the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Osaka, Japan. The park will include Hogwarts Castle and Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, and is estimated to cost $500 million.
According to Warner Bros.: Quote:
"This type of immersion is what the fans crave more than buying traditional merchandise," said Warner Bros. Consumer Products President Brad Globe. "Our strategy is focused on theme parks because it's a different experience. They’ve read the books and seen the movies, but now they can enter the world."
J.K. Rowling has given her full support to the project. Quote:
"I was delighted to experience and enjoy the attention to detail, creativity and superb craft that went into the first Wizarding World in Orlando,” said Rowling. “I am equally delighted that the same level of expertise and enjoyment will translate to the new park in Japan.”
The Japanese park is slated to open in 2014, prior to the opening of the park being built in Hollywood, which is expected to open in 2016.   | |

Yay!!!!  This just totally proves my theory that Harry Potter is slowly but surely, taking over the world.  I'm happy the Japanese fans get a park too now. Although I wish they'd hurry up and build the LA one soon so I can actually stop wallowing in my Post-Potter-Depression and have Harry back in my life.  |

I'm guessing the Hollywood park may have some more surprises in store since it is taking longer to build. I really want the expansion of the Orlando park to be officially announced soon.

I find that hugely annoying because I'm writing to Warner Bros. and the government and Universal Parks and Resorts to try and get one in Britain. After all, Harry Potter is British and made in Britain and based in B|ritain. Platform 9 3/4 is in Kings Cross (London), Hogwarts is in Scotland etc.
