Today Universal Orlando Resort announced a slew of new shops that will open at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Diagon Alley, including Borgin and Burkes on Knockturn Alley. Borgin and Burkes will feature shrunken heads, which would explain the
curious auditions taking place this weekend for actors who can do Caribbean accents. More shops will be announced at a later date for the infamous Knockturn Alley, but Borgin and Burkes will be the largest one on that street.
The live webcast can be viewed
here, which features James Phelps, Matt Lewis and Evanna Lynch. Do note that a repeat will be available online later today. The official website for
Diagon Alley is here.
Aside from the Leaky Cauldron restaurant, previously announced shops include a three-story Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes, Wiseacre's Wizarding Equipment (which will sell time turners, telescopes, binoculars, armillary spheres, compasses, magnifying glasses and hourglasses), Florean Fortescue's Ice-Cream Parlour (which will offer Harry's favorite peanut butter and strawberry ice cream, among other flavors to be announced) and Ollivanders wand shop, which will be larger than the existing Ollivanders annex in the Hogsmeade park in Islands of Adventure.
The new shops will be:
Borgin and Burkes, the only shop announced so far for Knockturn Alley, will feature death eater masks, skulls, and other novelty items.
Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions, which will offer Hogwarts school ties, scarves and jumpers, wizard robes and character costumes.
Magical Menagerie, which will offer plush animals like owls and hippogriffs.
Quality Quidditch Supplies, where guests can buy Quidditch sweaters, brooms, snitches, bludger bats, quaffles, etc.
Scribbulus, which will sell feather quills, ink and inkwells, bookmarks, journals, parchment paper, seals, stationery sets and postcards.
More shops are expected to be announced as the park nears its opening date - which is yet to be announced, but will be sometime this summer.
