Warner Bros. is stopping promotional screenings for all of its films in Canada, including Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, to prevent the films from being filmed illegally in theaters and then sold worldwide.
According to a rep for Warner Bros.: Quote:
We regret having to cancel our screenings in Canada, but our studio must take steps to protect not only our branded assets but our commitment to our filmmakers and to our distributors.
Film studios such as Warner Bros. have been trying to get the Canadian government to increase fines and punishments for the thieves. Allegedly, Canada is deemed responsible for a $225 million a year loss to the entertainment industry due to film piracy and trafficking, according to the U.S. International Intellectual Property Alliance. | |

1) It is virtually impossible to stop somebody from video taping movies. It is possible, but unless movie theatres want to check everyone who watches for video cameras. If they do, God Bless Thier Soul. 
2) Me is a Canadian. That's kind of not fair to be singling Canada out for piracy. I'm pretty sure it's happening in other countrys too, so don't be looking just at our country.

I know, that's what ticks me off! I mean, every country has piracy. Why CANADA of all places? It's just unfair it's us out of all the countries.
Some people in other countries make a living off of pirating and selling them. It's not common here to see people selling in stores or on the streets, well as common as other places.
If it's Canada, why JUST Canada? If they're so big into piracy, why can't they do this to other countries as well? Quote:

Which is why I say why are they taking it out on JUST Canada? I mean, I'd still be ticked but I wouldn't be AS ticked if another country was taken out on this.
Go to China and see how horrible it is with piracy. People make a LIVING selling pirated movies on the STREETS in the big cities in China, yet government takes it out on Canada? How's that right? Honestly... Quote:
