Post Videos: Daniel Radcliffe talks hosting SNL, Darren Criss, Harry Potter Oscar chances

Daniel Radcliffe discussed a variety of new subjects with MTV last week, ranging from the day he met How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying successor Darren Criss earlier this year, to his realistic lack of hope of the Harry Potter finale, Deathly Hallows: Part 2, getting Oscar recognition this year (though admitted he would be disappointed if Alan Rickman were not nominated), and his decision to host Saturday Night Live (of which he has already begun rehearsals this week). Those can be viewed here for those in the US (unfortunately they are not available internationally).

Dan also participated in an hour-long panel chat with BAFTA in December, where he discussed his body of film and theatrical work, including of course the Harry Potter films and his Broadway runs. That can be watched here.

"We have met. I can confirm, we have met," Radcliffe said with a smile. "Somebody showed me a very doctored photograph of our meeting; there were no photographs at our meeting, so if that's what people are interested in, they're going to be disappointed.

"But no, I had a lovely chat with him, talked about the show, I don't really deign to give advice, but I gave him my number and same with Nick Jonas and said, you know, 'Contact me if you've got anything to ask. I'm always around.' I passed on a joke to him that Matthew Broderick gave to me which Robert Morse gave to Matthew Broderick," Radcliffe explained. "So that's become sort of a legacy joke now, which is nice."

We generally avoid uploading anything MTV owns, as they will remove it immediately (and shut down YouTube accounts), so I'm afraid not.

be curious, not judgmental

You know you're an obnoxious Darren Criss fan when you see his name in the SnitchSeeker sidebar and scream.

I'm so glad they finally got to meet. It was long overdue.

As for Alan Rickman's Oscar nomination... Dan said it right. We would all be bummed if it didn't happen.

Moooooooo. :) || Have a supermegafoxyawesomehot Christmas.

Well, at least Dan and Darren met, that's what matters. And yes, please give HP some Oscar recognition, Academy members...

Speaking of SNL...Bill Hader's one of my favorites! I'm so glad Dan mentioned him; now I'm more excited for his hosting debut.

Dan's right, DH2 won't win. But Alan has a realistic shot. I hope he gets it!

Everyone I know is screaming for Alan to get nominated, but there's this sort of elitist "clique" of uber-Alan fans who think it would be an insult if he IS nominated, because they think that A-he deserved it far more for earlier performances (that point I can agree on), and B-the only people who would care are "Snape girly fans" who only discovered who Alan is through the Potter films, and therefore think that Snape automatically equals Alan. Their logic does not resemble normal Earth logic, I think Alan deserves the nomination on the merits of the work he did on the film, and I think if he doesn't get it the only thing it will show is that the Academy is a group of snobs who thought nothing of giving Ian McKellen a nomination for playing Gandalf, but would balk at giving Alan one becuase Harry Potter is "kiddie" stuff. :<

I whole heartily agree. Mr. Rickman has been my favorite actor since i was ten (that seems so long ago ) I may like Snape from the books and certainly from the movies but I can differentiate the two.... Alan Rickman does not equal Snape. I dislike reading what some have posted on forums or sites that they love Snape, or Snape is so cool when the site and or forum is about mr. Rickman I'm also glad that I have never seen any of that on this site Alan Rickman deserves any award he may be nominated for just cause he is a talented actor.

I loved Dan's interviews

Alan is very deserving and he should it, but on that note I honestly don't think he will because the HP stars have been pushed to the side it seems. Oh well in our hearts Rickman already won!
