| | UPDATED: A fan is chosen to interview JKR
' Harry Potter at the Castle: The Quest for the Ultimate Potter Fan', the show in which 4 Potter fans were competing for a chance to interview J.K.Rowling, recently ended on ITV1.
Owen Jones, 14, from Cardiff, is the winner. He will join other ' Half-Blood Prince' reporters at Edinburgh Castle and will get to conduct a one-on-one interview with J.K.Rowling which will be aired on July 17th.
The four finalists were put into four houses and together with their parents answered a series of questions about the fandom.
I'll update this article if/when videos/pictures from the show become available. UPDATE: The Guardian newspaper have now run a feature on the winner. Quote:
I was nervous when I realised just how good all the other contestants were," he said. "Some of the questions were really hard. I feel ecstatic to have won. It's brilliant."
Quote:
"I would like to ask JK Rowling what's going to happen in the next books and how does she feel about the moment when she will finally finish the series and not write Harry Potter books any more."
UPDATE #2: CBBC Newsround also has some quotes from Owen. Quote:
"I told the judges I would like to ask her if Harry Potter's life was a kind of childhood fantasy for her, and of course, what's going to happen in the next book." said Owen.
"Then I had to face the quiz. The moment I came through the door from school mum was firing Harry Potter questions at me," he added.

Lucky guy!! Imagine if one of your parents got one of the questions wrong? You'd probably be all:hack: "Dad/Mom, you ruined my life!!!" I know it's not funny, but I can't help it. |

I recognised Owen's dad. He used to be the member of parliament (MP) for Cardiff Central; John Owen Jones. He worked for the Labour party. However he lost out in this years election and was replaced by Jenny Willott (Lib Dems).
Just a random fact for you.

cherabela...Really funny. Some people are really lucky in this world...I'm glad I'm not one of them. That person mut be a serious fan. I am a fan of the Potter series too, but I'm not well equipped with the facts, theories and stuff. You see, I don't own any of the books.
BTW, Indian Idol, Abhijeet Sawant says his favorite book is Harry Potter too. Totally off-topic I know. Congratulations Owen. Hope some of your questions get us some really good answers from the 'Genius Lady' Rowling.

We spent time here. We made friends here. That's a part of us.
Cause Hogwarts is bigger than any of us, of any of it's founders,
and it's going to be around long after we're gone.
Maybe we'll see our kids come here one day.
That's the thing about Hogwarts.
No matter how long you're away from it, there's always a way back. |

I watched this, it was pretty good. And at the end he was asked by the presenter whathis 1st question would be and he said something like 'Does Peter Pettigrew kill Lupin?' I'm glad he won, he looked like a cool kid. Well done Owen.

| I didnt bother watching it which would be a bit strange for me but the thought of watching it made me rather nausious and I just had to go and lie down. Actually Im not sure if that was what made me not feel well but I went to lie down because I didnt feel well anyway. Perhaps I'm just lazy. It just made me think that perhaps they chose younger kids for these contests just to really annoy us teenagers. Sure they do need a few people to complain of Points of View on BBC 1. But I suppose it would be a bit crap if you knew everything on Harry Potter and your parent didnt know a single thing. You'd be hating them for life if they lost you the chance to interview JK Rowling. |
