Universal Studios president Ron Meyer and Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky shed a bit more light onto where exactly the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park at Universal Studios Hollywood would be built, given the park area's somewhat smaller and cramped set, according to the Associated Press.  “We’re not landlocked,” Meyer said. “We’re (on) 400 acres on this lot and 200 of them are still not developed.”
Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky said he was told that a live concert venue, Gibson Amphitheatre, would be scrapped to make way for the attraction. He said it would open around 2014, but officials did not give a date.
We will of course have all details and updates on the new Harry Potter theme park, as well as the Wizarding World of Harry Potter expansion at Universal Orlando Resorts, in the coming years. | |

THey got rid of Backdraft and tons of attractions in the back of the park. But getting rid of the Gibson Ampitheatre would give a lot more room for the park!

But the Gibson Amptheatre is also where they hold a lot of concert events in LA so I don't know why they would want to suddenly scrap it. I mean there are other theaters but I had always assumed, it would stay. Also, it's more outside the park where the ticket booth is rather than inside so I don't know how they're going to arrange it out with the extra lots from Backdraft and so on, which are farther away.  Oh well, whatever they do, I'm just glad LA is getting one!  Hopefully they go all out and make it huge the first time inside of expanding it later.
