UK HBP to use recycled paper It was previously reported that Bloomsbury would oblige to the request of Greenpeace to use forest-friendly paper for 'Half-Blood Prince'. However now it has been confirmed that Bloomsbury will definitely use recycled paper for their UK print run. Belinda Fletcher a Greenpeace forest campaigner said, "By publishing the forthcoming Harry Potter on a 30% FSC certified paper, Bloomsbury has thrown down the gauntlet to less progressive publishers, like Random House and Harper Collins, who have, so far failed to act. It is now up to other major U.K. publishers to start responding to Bloomsbury's lead." "We welcome the efforts that Bloomsbury have made and look forward to them moving towards 100% ancient forest friendly papers for all future Harry Potter print runs and their other titles." Scholastic have not yet responded to the Greenpeace request. Source: Wizard News |

Gooooooo Bloomsbury! use recycled paper!!!! |
Very good for Bloomsbury. They rule again. |
Yay Greenpeace! I love that organization! |
That's awesome that they are recyling. I wish everyone would start doing that. I hope Scholastic does it too. tania* |
Ah... It would be appropriate to use recycled paper- a good way to save trees. Go Bloomsbury! Use that advice! I hope our Scholastic prints on recycled paper too. |
Hoo-ray! :chrleadr: |
Good for them!!! Recycled helps the enviroment!!! :D :D |
That's great! Thanks for the info Scot! |
sok sniv.. i am pleased it may not look as good and normal paper printed but it is saving the enviroment |
Looks like we've screwed up the ozone layer I wonder if the politicians care The dime went down, yeah, if time went down What about our children then Is there nothing left for them We don't know, we don't know For me love is all I need the oxygen. I need the oxygen Time is Ticking out - The Cranberries |
thats great! I'm glad they are using recycled paper. What with all the new paper they would have used, half the forest would have been gone |
I hope it does do even a little bit for the enviroment. Go Bloomsbury! |
I hope Scolastic agrees. If not they make us all look bad by not using recycled paper. |
that's cool! Harry Potter! saving the enviorement! go harry potter! |
Save trees!! Is this "rycled paper books" only for books printed in english? |
Yeah, I hope Scolastic follows in line. Us americans can be so wasteful can't we?? But seriously we need to consider our resources, because they might just use all the trees this book and leave none for the next...ok that wouldn't happen but scholastic needs to give back!! |
In shades of green because Ottery loves the environment *hugs a tree* Yay Bloomsbury...that's cool, the environment needs all the help it can get... *Looks at Scholastic* Well...we're waiting... |
^ LoL! Yeah *pokes Scholastic* With your 10.8 print run, that's bound to save a lot of trees. Whatcha waiting for? |

The Canadian copy of the OotP was printed on recycled paper, there's a quote from JKR in the book...i think its pretty cool: "the forest at Hogwarts is home to magical creatures like unicorns and centaurs. Because the Canadian editions are printed on Ancient-Forest Friendly paper, the Harry Potter books are helping to save magnificant forests in the muggle world, forests that are the home of magical animals such as orangutans, wolves and bears. It's a good idea to respect ancient trees, especially if they have a temper like the Whomping Willow." |
cool! thats really great!! |
this is really awsome! |
thats good lol |
