| | |  Tolkien vs. Harry Potter
J.R.R. Tolkien has recently released a new book - The Children of Hurin - that ranks number two in the Amazon charts. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which won't be released for months, has held first place for a solid sixteen weeks.
The Children of Hurin is exactly what one would expect from Tolkien: there are wizards, dragons, and elves. The story is based off a lot of his old manuscripts, which his son put together after Tolkien's death. The book itself is getting closer and closer to Harry Potter on Amazon.com
So, the big question is: Will Harry Potter still be number one by the time the book is released - or is Tolkien catching up? Either way, fans are going to have a lot to read - about wizards, that is.

I'm going to order both of them real soon, read Children of Hurin, preorder DH. I think Tolkein is a really good author, sometimes his books get very slow because he spends a lot of time describing things, but it all helps in building the mental picture. In my opinion, I think that Tolkein will surpass DH here soon... maybe not SOON soon, but before too long.

I don't mind to be honest. HP doesn't HAVE to be the top book for a long time. I don't think it WILL knock off DH but Tolkein is a great writer, just a little hard to read. So, like what I said- who cares? WE know that we like HP!

I think that is interesting that a book by J.R.R. Tolkien is coming out, when he died in 1973..... I know, I know, his son put it together, but still, that is passing strange.

Tolkien is good...I must admit. But none better than J.K. Rowling! She's the best one ever! I want, and believe, that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will still be #1 on the list. 'Cause everybody loves them, and they can't wait it to be released.

I've always loved The Lord of the Rings,and I think JRR is a absolute genius,but I must say,Harry Potter holds my interest more. So I think I'd have to go with Harry Potter when it comes to my favorite.
