The Baltimore Sun has an interesting piece on Severus Snape, mainly discussing the character’s popularity, fate and moral ambiguity. The article also includes a list of ‘Five reasons to believe Snape is good (if not nice)’, as well as author Salman Rushdie’s theory regarding Snape.

I am 100% pro Snape (:heart2: ) regardless of whether he's good or bad. I love him to pieces and I genuinely believe he is the best character in the HP series. I have a few select favourites, but Snape by far takes the victory for the best character - good or bad.
Ok so he may be on the bad side. But so what if he is? Just look at his past and you'll find justification.
If he is on the good side, as I believe he is, then the likelyhood is, as much as I am sad to say it, that in book 7 he will die in battle saving Harry. I mean lets face it, when has there been a book when he hasn't saved the little idiot (polite choice of wording..)? It's likely that there will be a huge collision between the good side and the bad side and that'll be it then... No more Sev..

I don't see how people can still think he's good. I have hated him since Movie 1, since I actually saw the movie before I read it.. *hides* yes I know I'm horrible... but still, I have never changed in hating him. He is evil. I don't understand how people can love him.
if you think that you didnt look deep enough. couldnt you tell that snape hated himself for what he was doing? when the book said that he was looking at dumbledore with a mixture of hatred and disgust, dont you think that maybe, just maybe, he hated and disgusted himself for doing it, even though dumbledore obviously wanted him to? sorry, sorry. i kinda flipped out on you there. i am just so in love with snape. i am very pro snape.
