| | |  Tales of Beedle the Bard sells for almost £2million!
A copy of The Tales of Beedle the Bard, first mentioned in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, has sold at auction for almost £2,000,000.
The book, which is a collection of wizarding fairy tales, was expected to sell for £50,000, but the rare version sold for much more!
Potter author J.K. Rowling has said that she is ecstatic at the final price of the book. Quote:
"I am stunned and ecstatic," said Rowling after the sale.
"This will mean so much to children in desperate need of help. It means Christmas has come early to me."
The book, one of only seven in existence, has a dedication written on the front of the leather-bound cover. Quote:
A dedication written in the front of the book says: "Six of these books have been given to those most closely connected to the Harry Potter books during the last 17 years.
"This seventh copy will be auctioned, the proceeds to help institutionalised children who are in desperate need of a voice.
"So to whoever now owns this book, thank you - and fair fortune be yours!"
The money from the auction, at Sotheby's, will all be donated to J.K. Rowling's charity, The Children's Voice.
