While promoting Wild Target Rupert Grint talked to Radio 1's Newsbeat about trying to steal a prop from the set of Goblet of Fire and meeting famous people on set including the Obamas and the frontman of the Kaiser Chiefs. Quote:
"I took the golden egg that was in the fourth film - a dragon egg. Apparently it was worth a few thousand dollars. I put it in a pillowcase, it was with (onscreen brother) James (Phelps), it was a joint effort. But they tracked it down and got it off us.
"A wand I think would be nice to keep. They don't really like things going away from the set."
Of Michelle Obama and the Kaiser Chiefs, Rupert said; Quote:
Rupert said: "She was great. It was one of her daughter's birthdays and they did this big kind of ceremony and we had loads of cupcakes.
"It was quite a surreal day."

"At the beginning they were really excited. I think they were there for like four days in the end.
"They were literally just in the back standing by some lifts in the Ministry of Magic. They got over it pretty quickly - it wore off," Rupert said.

AAWW!! I would like to keep the golden egg as welll... but I think their plan was wrong planned.... I would have tries to keep a wand first, and then after seeing my plan works, try to get the egg...

for some reason i'm not surprised that these two would try to lift something from the set 
oh and funny how props are treated almost like actual valuables, before Star Wars most crew members wouldnt give a rats furry bhind if people wanted to keep stuff as a souvenir. some really just want to have something as a keepsake. i curse those scalpers who hawk these things online for goodness knows how much. its a big reason why the crew dont want props off the set anymore.

Nice try, but Harry (Daniel) fought hard to get that egg. He could probably have kept the sweaters from Mrs. Weasley.
Of course, at the time they did that film they weren't sure what props they'd need for later movies.
