Rupert Grint was joined by his
Mojo costars at the production's press night on Thursday, including Daniel Mays, Colin Morgan, Tom Rhys Harries, Ben Whishaw and Brendan Coyle at the Cafe de Paris in London. Photos of the Harry Potter actor can be found here; several early reviews are giving the 1950s-era mob play great reviews.
Rupert also spoke to the Chicago Sun Times about some of his current projects, including
Charlie Countryman and
CBGB, and how he chose films that would have characters as dissimilar to Ron Weasley as possible.
Quote:
“My goal is to do something completely different than ‘Harry Potter,’ ” he says. “I’ve been looking for things that are completely opposite of Ron, which means that I want to play much more than that great best friend who would lay down his life for you.”
“My goal isn’t shocking my fans,” says Grint. “But I do want them to see me as much more than just one role.”
“The strangest thing was not having another Harry Potter film to do in the next six months,” he says. “You look at your calendar and this huge part of your life isn’t there. You know you won’t be seeing your friends. That’s sad.”
The upside of the job, though, “is that you do have a loyal audience that really wants to see how you’re developing. They will check out your next part because they’re curious.”
“There are plenty of blond- and dark-haired actors,” he says with a laugh. “Gingers stand out, so they should be hired.”
