Default Rowling is a "lousy writer"

The Leaky Cauldron has a transcript from an interview conducted by The Courier Mail with author Colleen McCullough (The Thorn Birds). The author talks briefly about Harry Potter and offers her opinion on Rowling as a writer.

The entire interview can be read here.

Quote:
One thing Colleen McCullough won't miss when she finally loses her
battle against a condition that is sending her blind is finding out what
happens to Harry Potter.

The prolific writer, and reader, who was in Brisbane recently to
promote her latest novel, Angel Puss, says part of the skill that makes her one of Australia 's most popular authors also prevents her from becoming a fan of the young wizard with the scar on his forehead.

"I have an editor in my head, that's why I can't read Harry Potter,
because she (J.K. Rowling) is such a lousy writer," the woman with the
giant-sized personality confessed.

"I applaud her so much, but I can't read Harry Potter because the
editor in my head is going strike that, why did you do that?"

OK, I have a friend who is a LIT MAJOR who did her thesis on Harry Potter ... and she can't find too much to criticize. Still, everyone has their own writing style ... JKs is definitly different from some. Maybe too different for her taste.

But Stephen King likes HP, so who cares! *L*

Okay this is beyond absurd...does every hack who writes out there have to have an opinion on JKR, I swear, it's like writers just bad mouth her to get press for their own works...jeez. Seriously, the woman's writing is popular with children and adults, across the globe. And she's not a good writer...sounds like sour grapes to me...just once you'd think someone would be happy for her and what she's accomplished.

I'd like to hear what Nobel Laurette's have to say about her work...

I've often wondered why JK puts some things in the books, but it normally has some significance later in the stories. She is a clever, clever writer and knows how to give just enough info to keep us hooked. That's why the books are so good!

TAGGED.

Oh, come on guys, no need to get all defensive it's a personal oppinion, she's a professional writter and is entitled to her own opinion on other's litarary skills, she's said it about other people bar J.K.Rowling so settle down alittle. I also think JK is a talented writer and I love her, so yeah don't go bashing me for it, but I know that writers are allowed to have their opinions on other writers it's not illegal, sheesh.

Oh well. She's entitled to her own opinion. It sort of stinks, though, because I loved 'The Thorn Birds'. Whatever. A lot of people don't like JK Rowling.
