Robert Pattinson cast as Edward Cullen in Twilight Robert Pattinson, the actor well-known for playing Cedric Diggory in the Harry Potter films, has recently been cast as a character by the name of Edward Cullen in a movie adaptation of the Twilight series. Stephenie Meyer, the author, is quoted saying: Quote:

Thanks to the amazing SSer ~*MischaBloom*~ for the tip! |
I'm not too keen on Kristen playing Bella; I wanted Emily Browning to be Bella. Tho, Robert as Edward, I'm okay with. Even tho, Gaspard was like perfect for the role, but hey, I'm not the casting agent XD |
Blah...I love Robert but err...yeah. I'll keep my comment to myself. No one can ever stand a chance next to the Edward I have envisioned in my mind. However, I'm not disappointed. It could have been far worse. Now, if only they would start the shooting and the movie could be released. This trauma and anxiety all over again is beginning to remind me of my "Harry Potter experience." |
Bleeeeeeh is all that I should say. He is definitely not Edward to me. <_< |
O______________O Holy shnapcicles. I think I just died. About 209825439676 times. :faint: |
OHHHHHHHHHMYGOD. A.) Muuuuch more fitting for him than Gaspard ever was. Much as I'm in love with Gaspard. B.) I'M IN LOVE WITH ROBERT PATTINSON! o: C.) AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! This is me spazzing. Happily. HUZZAH! |
Why is everyone so obsessed with Twilight these days? XD ...I don't even know what it is. LMAO. *hides* |
I didn't have a preconceived notion of who should be Edward when I was reading the books, so Robert works for me. I'm happy for Robert to get such a big part! I never believed Gaspard as Edward anyway. *hides from the Gaspard lovers* And Kristen looks awesome for Bella. |
Wow. Shock. He's definitely no Edward Cullen to me, but...he is a good actor. *is still in shock* |
I didnt even like him in Harry Potter. But I guess I will just have to get used to it. *nods* |
Cool! I love Twilight! |
In my and my friends personal opionion is that there is no way he can play edward. EDWARD IS SO MUCH MORE IN EVERY ASPECT. So yeah but thats just us. |
I'm curious to see who'll be cast to play Jacob. I do have other actors in mind that would be an awesome Edward, but I'll just have to go with Robert. He's alright; and, for Bella....no comment on that. I was very upset with that casting. |
it's not what i had in mind but im okay with it.. |
ohmygosh!!! Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey. I was totally not expecting Robert to play Edward. I actually never even thought about it. But he's about 10893458934 times better for the part than Gaspard.... xD The movie might not be half as bad now... |
^I totally agree with you..he's a million times better than Gaspard!:) |
 You guys should consider that Edward is a fictional character and not only is he fictional he's a vampire so...of course, no human is ever going to live up to his standards. Although, personally I didn't envision Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen, I'm not disappointed with the casting. I'm sure there are reasons behind the decision. He does have a certain sex appeal to him that wasn't demostrated in Goblet of Fire. (Ya'll should watch Vanity Fair...just for fun). XD And having been Vice-President of his fanclub *cough* Robert does have an endearing crooked smile. Point is...I think with the proper makeup, haircut and good acting (I'm sure R-Pat can do it *crosses fingers) Rob might be able to pull of a more than decent Edward. Kirsten as Bella is also pretty alright with me. Although there is something about her that bugs me...but her hair is brown-reddish which works fine because there is a line in Twilight about her hair looking reddish in the sun. (It's delivered by Mike...not quoting) What. Ama end this post. *ENDS* |
hmmmm..... i can't see him as edward. sorry. hey, i see that people keep saying that a "kristen" is palying bella. i think i missed something. kristen who? |
You know, I would never have thought of Robert Pattison as Edward, but...like she ^^^^ says...he's probably as close to my mental image of Edward as they could get. But...Edward's from Chicago. Isn't Robert Pattison british? |
I'm curious as to see if he can pull off an American accent. It might be hard, but I have faith in him. Sure, he's no Gaspard, but he'll be great for the part. If they didn't think he'd do well for the part, they would have never casted him. |

Robert as Edward... didn't see that one coming, but I'm not complaining. I don't know how Gaspard acts so I can't say he was what I pictures (yeah, appearance-wise but I can't say anything on his acting ability), so I hope that Robert can get an American accent down for the role, and I'm sure he'll be able to pull it off. As long as he can do that I'm ok with the choice :) But I did not like the casting for Bella at all... I was also hoping for Emily Browning cause she was a good actress (in Lemony Snicket's ASOUE movie). But yay! Someone from Harry Potter and an actor I know for Edward! :D *does a random dance* |
:shifty: ...Zach Quinto would have been better for the part. *doesn't know what she's talking about* XD *runs off* |

We all pictured Edward Cullen to be different; we all have our own opinions about the actor who we thought would bring that character to life. My choice, definitely Gaspard, because, honestly, did you people see him in Hannibal the rising???? WOW. Kid is a brilliant actor! Plus he's got that pale complexion and that mysterious side to him. Stephenie Meyer's vision of Edward was the actor Henry Cavill. Other people thought of Hayden Christensen, Tom Sturridge and I think that's it... Before, honestly, I was not happy with the casting of Bella (still not) but I'm alright with Robert playing Edward. He'll kick major booty playing the part. I have faith in him. |
