Despite being dead, ex-Dumbledore Richard Harris still made his presence felt when the cast of the latest Harry Potter met the world’s press in London. Article:
Thanks to Wizardnews Quote: Young stars Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, together with older co-stars Gary Oldman and Michael Gambon turned out in the Banqueting Hall in Great House, Central London to meet press from all over the world.
Also present was director, Alfonso Cuaron, and producer Chris Columbus, who directed the first two Potter films. On the difficult decision of re-casting Professor Dumbledore, he admitted that he felt under a great deal of pressure, not least because of Richard Harris himself.
“I went to visit him in hospital to say goodbye,” Columbus told reporters. “And one of the last things he said – anyone here under the age of 10 had better cover their ears – one of the last things he said was: ‘You’d better not lucky think about re-casting me.’”
When the laughter had subsided, it fell to Harris’ replacement – Michael Gambon – to take up the story.
“I wasn’t too intimidated,” he said. “I fitted in perfectly, I think. For a start I’ve known people like Maggie Smith for 40 years. The first week was tense but then I just relaxed into it.”
His fellow newcomer to the franchise, Gary Oldman, expressed similar sentiments. Also, like most actors on the films, taking the part turned out to be popular with his children.
“I’m a superstar at my kids’ school,” he grinned. “They’ve got the T-shirts and the posters and even the articulated action figure. They take me to school on their share days.”
Harry Potter, himself, Radcliffe, told reporters that he was intimidated himself because he is one of Oldman’s biggest fans.
“I’ve seen everything he’s ever done,” the young wizard said. “I think he’s an amazing actor.”
Oldman added: “And knowing Daniel was such a big fan kind of intimidated me. I didn’t want to let him down.” Wizardnews |

I was upset when Richard Harris died, but I'm sure Gambon has done the part great justice, Richard would be nothing else but proud I bet.

| Richard Harris will always remembered! We all love him, but I do agree with Swizzlestick that Michael Gamdon will too make a great Dumbledore and that Harris would be proud. Quote: Oldman added: “And knowing Daniel was such a big fan kind of intimidated me. I didn’t want to let him down.” I loved that, its funny how they both intimidated each other. Gary Oldman sounds like a really great person.

that's cute
I;'d just like to add about the Columbus being the producer, I'm not sure if David Heyman and Chris Coumbus are now co-producing but Heyman rpouced the first two and his brother told me that he produced this one so maybe because of his other projects he's co-producing but I just didn't want to let David down there by letting Columbus steal all his glory
~Jes Just found this on Mugglenet:
"Today, there would be round-table interviews with Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid), Alfonso Cuaron (director), and the three producers, David Heyman, Chris Columbus and Mark Radcliffe. And then later, a press conference with Dan Radcliffe and Emma Watson. "
so I guess my question is answered. I was just a little mad they named only one of the rpoducers, lol.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Marcella Riddle Graduated | Kaplinski Rival Sorting Hat Machine Quote: ‘You’d better not lucky think about re-casting me.’” I know the real word which is replaced by "lucky" is relatively foul - but that is one quote from Harris that I will always remember.
That guy was a comedian - even on his deathbed.
God Bless him. Quote: i just hope Gary Oldeman is as good as he was Gary Oldman is Sirius Black.
Michael Gambon replaced Harris as Dumbledore.

I personally am glad that they made him look different. If they didn't, the future watchers wouldn't know that there was two Dumbledores. and since Gambon is going to be in the later verisons of the movies, then many future kids might not even know that there was a different Dumledore in the first two if they didn't see the differnce in looks.

Cool. What Oldman said about being intimidated himself was frickin' hilarious! And also what the late Harris said to Chris about replacing him, hahahaaaaaaaaa... so funny!! Totally cracked me up.
RIP Richard Harris
