Richard Griffiths missing from ‘Equus’ on Saturday

A woefully unprepared understudy took Richard Griffiths’ place for last Saturday’s matinee and evening performances of Equus. Stand-in Colin Haigh is reported to have read the entire script during the whole play.

On a happier note, if you’re interested in buying Equus T-shirts or posters click here, courtesy of DR.com.

skates 03-06-2007 12:32 AM

No way! OMG at least it wasn't dan. I bet the play was awful without him lol. (no effence dan I love you) I heard this play was absolutely magnificent manely because of Richard's and DAniel's chemistry together. Oh well, hope he doesn't miss any more!

starlightangel 03-06-2007 12:41 AM

Oh! I hope nothing serious happened.

Believe 03-06-2007 12:45 AM

*wonders why* If they had an understudy... you'd think he'd be prepared... tsk tsk. *giggles*

shortfry 03-06-2007 12:56 AM

Wow, I could never imagine paying to see a play and having an understudy on stage reading his lines! How unprofessional and disappointing.

On another note ... I hope all is well with Richard Griffiths. *Sending him good thoughts* :D

Kaos.Doodles 03-06-2007 01:16 AM

HA what a bad understudy if i was there and he read all his lines from a piece of papper i would ask for my money back.

Morthain 03-06-2007 01:19 AM

That would stink to be that Understudy

hermia123 03-06-2007 01:23 AM

Wow, I wonder where he was!

JOpotter 03-06-2007 01:28 AM

wow... what kind of understudy is that? :erm: I'd be so angry is I spent a ton of money on tickets for the show and got Richard Griffith's crappy understudy.... Oh ho.....

lorlor57 03-06-2007 02:15 AM

Wow what happened? I hope Richard is well and it's nothing serious. It's awful that the understudy was so unprepaired. That's not fair to those who went to see the play and the understudy was standing there reading from the scrpit while every one else knew their lines . It must really have taken away from the show. <_<

tia_leoni 03-06-2007 02:59 AM

I would suck to fly all the way to England to see the play and to get stuck with an understudy doing the part. Hopefully Richard is okay.

At least Richard isn't filling in for Dan. *snark*

BrightestWitch 03-06-2007 03:09 AM

Aww...Poor Guy. Too bad he wasn't prepared. *pokes him* I hope Richard Griffiths is okay. <3

elia 03-06-2007 05:15 AM

he must had something personal and important to attend to.. or he better come up with a very good reason to have not too.. poor him tho~ and good for his understudy.. :)

HARRY LOVER#1 =) 03-06-2007 07:23 AM

Nimue 03-06-2007 07:54 AM

Pigwidgeon Took 03-06-2007 09:15 AM

ya they should tell us where he was now...

Eclipsed 03-06-2007 01:47 PM

Aww, feel so sorry for the understudy!

GinnyWeasley07 03-06-2007 01:58 PM

odd! Hope he's alright! Shame the audience missed seeing him! We wish you well and hope Richard is well!

gayle 03-06-2007 02:31 PM

Well, the understudy probably got a chewing out for a poor performance and I am sure the audience was disappointed not to see Richards. he may not be feeling well, or he could have layrngitis. Doing several shows a week can put a strain on the vocal cords.
