| | Raincoast obtain HBP Injunction Raincoast, the Canadian Potter publishers, have obtained a ' Half-Blood Prince' injunction similar to that of Bloomsbury.
Before this, Raincoast suffered a breach of the on-sale retail embargo date at just one location. The court ordered the return to Raincoast of any copies that have fallen into the hands of unauthorized persons owing to the breach.
Raincoast also announced that it would reward the small number of consumers who had inadvertently purchased at the store in question an early copy of the book, if they returned their copy to Raincoast immediately. Raincoast has issued a notice to the public requesting the immediate return of copies purchased early.
The full injunction can be read here.

So this means that some people have already purchases the book, even if by mistake? I know it's against the law literally, but they're lucky nevertheless.

Yes. But they're not being prosecuted for it as it wasn't their fault, as I understand it. The books are being handed in and will be returned to the owners on July 16th.

We spent time here. We made friends here. That's a part of us.
Cause Hogwarts is bigger than any of us, of any of it's founders,
and it's going to be around long after we're gone.
Maybe we'll see our kids come here one day.
That's the thing about Hogwarts.
No matter how long you're away from it, there's always a way back. |

I hope my dream of accidentally purchasing an early copy of HBP by mistake doesn't come true. They're lucky to have been given a chance of returning them because of a breech.

It would be awful to have started reading the book then someone tells you...oops sorry we weren't supposed to sell that to you. Please return it and we'll let you have it back next Saturday at 12:01 am. I would try to go on vacation where no one could reach reach me so I could read it.

Yeah, they could've got so much worse. Although having to part with HBP must've been hard.

I would've read that book so fast before giving it back! I would never tell anyone, so they wouldn't suspect...

I think they should be allowed to keep the books. They payed for it. But I guess it's not fair, because they could spoil the HBP for everyone before it even comes out.
