While promoting her stage work in Henrik Ibsen's drama, John Gabriel Borkman, which has its U.S. debut Friday night in New York's Brooklyn Academy of Music, British actress Lindsay Duncan ( Alice in Wonderland, Rome, An Ideal Husband, Starter for 10) was asked why she was never cast in the Harry Potter films. Note that, as shown in the image below, Duncan's costars in John Gabriel Borkman are Alan Rickman (Severus Snape) as Borkman, and Fiona Shaw (Petunia Dursley), who plays Rickman's on-stage wife. Duncan portrays Mrs. Borkman's twin sister, Ella.  Quote:
Duncan says she has never been considered for a part in the Potter movies. "No, and I'd like to know why. Thank you for putting that question out into the world!" she says with a laugh. "Not that I'm bitter, just curious. I have to say that most of the people in my age group have been in Harry Potter, but not me."
Ibsen's John Gabriel Borkman opens Friday night at BAM, and runs through February 6, 2011. Tickets can be purchased here. | |

I went to see this play when it was in Dublin,it was fantastic I would recommend anyone who is a fan of Alan Rickman or Fiona Shaw or Hilary Duncan to go and see it I even got an autograph off Mr Rickman

Nice pic! It's funny how the older HP cast members have been in so many movies together outside of Harry Potter haha. I imagine this play will be interesting...it would be like watching Snape and Aunt Petunia as a married couple
