| | Prisoner of Azkaban's bid for the Oscars
The Warner Brothers official Awards Site is now up and running, launching their efforts to get Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban nominated for awards this year which include the Oscars.
The campaign details selected categories and aspects from Prisoner of Azkaban that they wish to be considered by those who vote within the Academy. They are:
Best Picture
Best Director
Best Adapted Screenplay
Best Cinematographer
Best Art Direction
Best Visual Effects
Best Sound Editing
Best Sound Mixing
Best Film Editing
Best Original Score
Adverts for these campaigns have already made appearances in trade journals and some are being sold or have been sold via Ebay: John Williams - PoA - Best Original Score Advert featuring the three lead actors (Note: They are NOT being put forward for awards -- please don't go getting ahead of yourselves.) Advert featuring the 'flying' Aunt Marge
The Academy Awards will be presented on Feb. 27th, 2005. The Leaky Cauldron have also noted this word of warning: Quote: Note: Please remember that the screenings noted on the site linked to above are for Academy members only, and are not open to the public. Please watch your new Azkaban DVD instead of troubling those who work at the RSVP lines and the screening locations with unfounded requests for admittance. (Besides, you can watch the DVD in your jammies and replay Draco getting punched to your heart's content.)

lol! cool Em, ta for the info, very cool! Hope they win at least one! that would be nice. Potter has been ignored in the past for oscars etc, but this film is actually good enough to perhaps win some really prestigious awards!
John Williams is my fav composer, i love his sound tracks, it would be awesome if he could win one for POA, seen as we lose him for GOF

That would be really exciting if PoA got a nomination!! If PoA did get a nomination, it would probably be from the Best Visual Effects category..... well, that's just my opinion. Hey, it could happen. I mean to say, PoA has some fantastic visual effects in it! Or John Williams' composing... hmm.... I really do love the music in the movie, also. He defiantely has a shot at it! Anyways, good luck with the nominations!!! Hope you get some!!!

Note: you can often find these ads in Cinefex (special effects movie mag). I haven't looked there yet this year, but I found some great ones for HP and for LOTR in this mag before. It's a bit expensive ... but probably cheaper than trying to find them on ebay.

PoA will probably get a nomination for everything but Best Picture and Best Director. I hope it wins Art Direction, now that LotR is over...
