Post Potter sets comparative standards

In the March 25th, 2005, Entertainment Weekly magazine, Gillian Flynn reviews the new American TV version of 'Little House on the Prairie' using Harry Potter as the very favorable comparison.

On page 63 she begins the article titled, "Welcome, Wagon", with:

"Think of Laura Ingalls as Harry Potter without the broomstick, potions, and magical other world playground. Like Harry, she's a scrappy kid exploring mystifying and sometimes deadly territory - in this case, the Midwest wilderness of the late 1800's."

And it goes on, comparing the principles and characteristics of the show with the world J.K. Rowling has created.

Harry Potter has become the standard to which other stories are compared.

Well if HP is being taking seriously enough to be compared with other stories, then maybe it could be used in schools one day! * falls into a dream full of promise*...... *is gone a long while*.....

HP is a standard from the time the first book was published!
And I used to think that these books are weird!

The Sweetest Thing Lissy De Vil

I always loved the Little House Books when I was a kid. I have an example of HP being taken seriously as literature too. A few years a go when I was in nursing school, I was in the college bookshop buying my text books when I saw a HUGE stack of Sorceror's Stone. I went to investigate and saw that it was required reading for one of the English classes. I wished I hadn't already taken that class!

actually it was used in our school in the english class.. i think it was gof, but we didn't get a chance to do it, the eighth grades who were one year older than us, did.. we all hoped to do OOTP in our eighth year, but i think because of the prices here, they cancelled it.. i remember, it was very expensive
