| | Potter restaurant rumours 'untrue'
Rumours that a Harry Potter themed restaurant may be opened are untrue, according to official sources.
The rumour first surfaced two days ago via the Business Journal. Quote:
"The first concept -- T-Rex -- will debut in Kansas City, Mo., this fall, with additional sites slated for the Mall of America, Las Vegas and five other cities. His six other concepts -- Hot Dog Hall of Fame, Asia, China, Children in Motion, Aerobleu and Harry Potter -- all will open in various locations later on. "
CBBC Newsround has an article clearly debunking this rumour as 'untrue'. Quote:
It's been reported that an American businessman was launching seven new restaurants and that one of them would have a Potter theme.
It was also reported that he'd spent hours on the phone with JK Rowling discussing the idea.
Quote:
a spokesperson for Warner Bros told CBBC Newsround that neither they, nor JK, had given permission of any kind.
And a representative for JK also told us that there was no truth in the reports that the author had been discussing the concept with the businessman.

Yea I agree RedMartini... I would have loved for them to make a Harry Potter themed restaraunt... bummer.

I wouldn't. It'd destroy the whole magic of the books to have Harry everywhere, commercially. Hated the thought from the start.

| In Love with Touz | | Lil Mikky-Mu I would have loved to see inside, but I probably would have refused to pay exorbitant prices for Potter-themed food *Curses tuition fees*... I think the only Potter-themed things I own are the books and 2 of the DVDs lol.

i don't like commercialisation... that was something I never wanted for Harry Potter - but you don't get everything you wish for!!!
I think in a way a restaurant would've been interesting but it would've crossed the line by so much that it wouldn't even be able to see the line any more....

Put it this way, there would only have been one in London and then a dozen in America. They wouldn't put them any place else so most fans'd miss out anyways.

Too right, I was just thinking, they'd be a chain, and people would drive up and order Harry Meals... I mean c'mon by the end of the first week it would have been 5 Billion served...no thank you. HP is a book, I mean really, give it up people...just how greedy...besides an Alice In Wonderland Tea Shop would be better...

I'm glad it was a rumor. Yeah, fans from other places would feel left behind if it would be only established in the US mainland and UK.
Thanks for the news! :sorcerer:
