| | |  OotP Merchandise to Target Older Audiences
Warner Brothers have spoken about their plans for ' Order of the Phoenix' merchandising in a Retailing Today article mentioning that products will be designed with an older target audience in mind; acknowledging that, as Harry grows, so do his fans/readers. Quote:
"We signed the same partners for the first two movies and did the same for the third and fourth so we're starting anew again," said Karen McTier, evp of domestic licensing and worldwide marketing for Warner Consumer Products. "Harry is getting older so we're going to skew a little older with this program. Instead of traditional toys we're going to focus on collectible toys and we'll skew older in apparel, as well."

wow this is great news being an older fan I am ecstatic also it will make it easier for the younger fans as they get older because more and more people are realising that these books/movies are not just for children (I work with kids and some of them are ashamed to admit they are HP fans) and bringing in older merchandise means society is taking notice  | |

That's nice. I hope they still have some things though for the younger readers, since there still are younger readers. However, I do agree with their line of thinking. I'm fifteen, which I think is around the age that Harry is in this book (15 turning 16?) so I'm happy that they'll be making more stuff to appeal people my age and older

It's great that they are having more things geared toward the older generation. I think that there are more older fans anyway. How hard is it for a second, third, fourth grader to read and understand harry potter?
