MPAA confirms Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I to receive PG-13 rating

The Motion Picture Association of America, who rate films in the U.S. based on their content, have just informed SnitchSeeker that the rating for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I, out November 19, will receive a PG-13 rating.

Quote:

“Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 1” has been rated PG-13 for some sequences of intense action violence and frightening images.
The rating for Part II, out in July, has not been set, nor has post-production been completed. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be out November 19, 2010 and July 15, 2011.

At the moment there are two set premieres scheduled for Part I: the world premiere in London, to take place on Thursday, November 11; and the U.S. premiere in New York City on Monday, November 15, 2011. SnitchSeeker will be covering both events to bring the latest from the film, its stars, and filmmakers.

I don't know why, but this makes me insanely happy:x3:

purebloodprincess87 10-04-2010 10:23 PM

well DAH!!!!!!

ronhermioneroc12 10-04-2010 10:27 PM

THANK GOD- I will be honest I was scared of what the US was gonna rate this one. I agree w. your DAH comment but I sometimes question the US ratings system. I am sure the Hermione scene alone gave it a PG-13 rating. Cant wait to see/hear what SS says :)

Vargaroth 10-04-2010 10:37 PM

Yea, i dont think you would get an "R" rating. Pretty much expected.

Ginny GL 10-04-2010 10:37 PM

Can't wait!

If part one is PG13, part two will definitely be the same. There's much more violence and frightening images in that one.

IMAndyDrew 10-04-2010 10:45 PM

I've always thought some of the most violent movies were actually PG-13. Remember "The Dark Knight" ? Most people forgot that it wasn't Rated R, so violent! I cannot wait for "HP7: Part 1" !!!

harrypotter#1fan 10-04-2010 10:46 PM

Thank God!!!! How could it not be PG-13??? :)

hpnaiv 10-04-2010 10:55 PM

Wooooooooooooo!

Pigwidgeon Took 10-04-2010 11:00 PM

I'm... confused. Lol. How is this anything BUT expected?

I would be more shocked if they rated it R or PG... because those are ridiculous ratings, one because it over-exaggerates the existing violence and the other because it would imply it's a frilly, no-violence-whatsoever movie, which simply isn't possible to stay even REMOTELY true to the book.

HogwartsHokage 10-04-2010 11:04 PM

Yay! I was wondering when people would stop speculating about the R rating. :)

RonRules693 10-04-2010 11:16 PM

Sooooo pleased with this decision!

bonnieginnyfan1 10-05-2010 12:38 AM

I'm glad to see that DH1 is this rating!

Ms_Nessa24 10-05-2010 12:42 AM

This Is Such Good News!

Moaning Myrtle lover 10-05-2010 12:53 AM

DUH! It would be crazy to give it PG and even crazier to give it R!

Vargaroth 10-05-2010 12:56 AM

Lmao.

It would of never gotten an R rating. Could you imagine the outrage by Potter fans everywhere who were'nt of age? WB just couldnt risk the backlash that would create.

cherbear09 10-05-2010 01:33 AM

it is nice hearing it officially .. like everyone is saying of course it would have been, but a lot of people were disappointed with the rating for HBP so its nice to hear its official for DH

cant wait !!

insanelysyd95 10-05-2010 02:08 AM

I'm so happy that it's only PG-13! I was so afraid it was going to be R, and then I'd actually have to go with either my sister or my mother :P But now it can just be my best friend and me!!
This makes it seem SUPER official now! I can't believe it's only 47 days away!! Yay!!

Canoir Greengrass 10-05-2010 02:25 AM

I'm really please with this decision :xd:

possummink 10-05-2010 03:11 AM

Good and it is getting closer. Wish I could go to one of the premieres.

lorlor57 10-05-2010 03:24 AM

good to hear it! i agree it would be weird to have it R or PG

princess of*hp* 10-05-2010 04:45 AM

That sounds good. R for an HP film would be a bit TOO much. So many kids would miss out on the film until their parents allowed them to see it.

R-Luchy~W*7*PG~ 10-05-2010 09:22 AM

Oh,okay.. Thank you for the information..

hpluvr037 10-05-2010 12:48 PM

Like everyone else is saying, I'm not really surprised at all.

Hermionespell 10-05-2010 01:08 PM

Not very surprising. It would've been strange if it was rated PG.
