A research project by a college student aims to find out. The goal is to discuss similarities between the psychological response of adults and children to the Harry Potter novels.
"It can be a fan letter, love letter, sympathy letter, anything at all you want it to be," said Danielle, the project's leader. "It can be written as though you have heard his story on the news, as though you've read his books, as though you know him personally, whatever, just as long as it is reflective of your true feelings as a person of your age."
Letter writers can remain anonymous, but the project does need the gender and age of the authors. Danielle's research is complimenting information found in the book Kid's Letters to Harry Potter..

What is the age limit? I mean, what are they constituting as an 'adult'. Someone in their mid twenties, or someone just not a minor anymore, because I'm 18 years old, no longer a minor. Some would say that I'm an adult, some would not. I'm not sure. I don't care. I'm just 18, lol, a person. So maybe I'm not an adult, but I'm not a child either....ergh! What an odd feeling!
Anyway, the study sounds pretty neat. Hope it goes well, and that people are honest in their letters. It'd be horrible if all the college student recieved were flames for promoting 'evil Harry Potter', but she probably won't. I'm just in a pessimistic mood right now, sorry!

Im in the UK and if it helps, you are classed as an adult over here once you hit 18.

Yes, I'd say 18 would be the limit since that is the age the government considers you an adult.

There are a huge number of parents and other adults who love the series. I think the goal is to research how people of different ages react to the books and cross reference the similarities and differences over the age groups. I would suggest just responding if you are interested and putting your age and let project leaders decide how to classify you.

Im 20 and live on my own and i still really enjoy the HP books as well as some other "childern" books such as Tamora Pierce and the C.S. Lewis books
and if i could write a letter to HP i would ask him what its like being so singled out because of the He-who-must-not-be-named stuff

I once read kid's letters ot Hary Potter. i hated it. The people there were so stupid! It was all 'Ooo Harry, Draco and Snape are SO evil' and some idiots even pretended to be real witches themselves and to make it worse, were total Mary Sues and...arg. I really didn't like it. I'm sure the adults one will be better though.

Hmm, I'm thinking that perhaps I will write it. But I feel kind of odd, pretending that Harry Potter is real...I wonder how this study's going to turn out.
