Julie Walters talks Molly Weasley
 

In a brief new interview Julie Walters, who plays Mrs. Weasley in the Harry Potter films, admits that she isn't a fan of the books but does like to keep up to speed with her character.

Ew...

of course, she has an important part (but not a huge role) in the series - although the final battle scene will be excellent! that said i doubt she could pay the bills based on her HP work alone!

it's a little annoying how some headline have claimed she "hates" HP just because she's not a HP tragic (like most SS members!). Jim Broadbent (Slughorn) put it best that HP wasn't really of his "generation", Julie's probably the same?!

That's a shame. For someone who isn't a fan of the books, she plays her very well indeed.

That's media framing for you. She said nothing of the sort. Like with Jim, her role isn't central, so it isn't really vital that she reads the books avidly.

wow! I would have never guessed that she wasn't a fan. I also agree with the others That she plays Mrs. Weasley very well.

oh well, to each his or her own. If she doesnt read the books because it isnt her cup of tea - fine. She plays her role beautifully, do we all agree to that?

And Julie is great. I especiaaly loved her alongside Rupert in Driving Lessons.

It's sad that she's not interested in the books for anything other than her character. She is a wonderful actress though :D

Well, she is a fantastic actress. I guess when you think about it, not everyone out there is a reader. It just feels like that to me sometimes.

She definitely is the best Molly Weasley we could imagine. Every time I read the battle scene (and I did my 5th yesterday) I can only picture her.

Ashame she doesn't like the books. I feel like if you're going to be in a movie based on a book you should at least read the book, but oh well. She plays a great Molly anyway.

Well she IS Molly Weasley to me. It's ridiulus how pitch perfect she (and Arthur) is for their characters!
