Despite a parent's effort to ban the party, a judge has ruled for the party to continue Article:
Thanks to Wizardnews for this article Quote:
U.S. Magistrate Don Bush denied James O'Connor's request Wednesday for a temporary restraining order to keep the party featuring the beloved fictional wizard from being held at the Plano, Tex., elementary school O'Connor's children attend, the Dallas Morning News reported Thursday.
O'Connor, who filed the lawsuit Monday, asked for equal time for all religions if the Harry Potter party is held.
"Incrementally, we've been removing a lot of Judeo-Christian models in our culture, and I am concerned that incrementally they may be replaced by non-Christian models," O'Connor said.
The judge has not ruled on the overall lawsuit and must still decide if the school district was promoting a religion by having the party.
"It's about reading, not a religion," said Donna Winemiller, PTA president at Haggar Elementary School, where the event is set to be held in May. Boone Today |

I am thinking this complaint must be from a parent who has not taken the time to read any of the Harry Potter books. To suggest this is promoting any type of religion is ridiculous. These books may have strong themes and ideas but these are so intricately woven into these books that anything other than an entertaining story would not be completely grasped by an elementary student.
Kudos to the school for having the party and trying to encourage their students to read.

Exactly, I completely, and utterly, 100% Agree, with what Donna Miller said. That man, perhaps, is just seeking attention, or has a mental issue!!!

Quote: ugh stupid people. harry potter is wonderful for children's imaginations (and also addicting, but in a good way ) I agree with both! If you have actually read the books, then you really can't say anythign like that about them. They celebrate Christmas! How is that anti-religious?! Stupid people need to read before they pass judgement, meaning more than 5 chapters.
