| | JKR updates her site!
J.K.Rowling certainly has been one very busy woman. She's updated various sections of her site revealing both news and new tidbits about the upcoming books.
In the news section, she says the following: Quote:
I don’t know about you, but I got sick and tired of seeing that old Edinburgh Book Festival headline on my desktop and thought I’d change it, however dull the fresh story. So: I have nothing noteworthy to report, because I have been spending nearly all my time sitting in front of my computer writing, re-writing and taking the occasional break to bang my head off the desk in frustration or else rub my hands together in fiendish glee (I think the latter has happened once). Meanwhile, the distance between the keyboard and yours truly increases day by day as my third child races Harry’s next adventure into the world.
She has also updated the rumours section in which she discusses: Quote:
Harry stands trial again in HP&THBP
This theory has been put forward to explain why Harry does not spend as long in Privet Drive during this book as previous ones, but I am happy to say that he leaves the Dursleys early for a much pleasanter reason than a court case.
Quote:
Luna and Neville will hook up in HP&THBP
The Luna/Neville shippers are much less vehement and scary than the Harry/Hermione, Ron/Hermione tribes, so I hope I won’t receive too much hate mail for quashing this rumour. I see Neville and Luna as very different kinds of people and while they share a certain isolation within Hogwarts, I don’t think that’s enough to foster true love - friendship, perhaps, although I think that Neville would always find Luna’s wilder flights of fancy alarming.
Neville & the Lestranges not knowing about the prophecy The Order of the Phoenix don't communicate with Chocolate Frog Cards Molly Weasley's brothers and their importance to the plot
Jo has also updated the Rubbish Bin to shot down reports about her nickname. Quote:
Joanie
According to a recent article in a UK newspaper, I am known to my good friends as ‘Joanie’. Just for the record, nobody, in the whole course of my life, has ever called me ‘Joanie.’
I’m looking forward to finding out what my husband calls me. ‘Kevin’, perhaps.
The Extra Stuff also has some interesting updates. Minesweeper or smoking Squibs, Arabella Fig's profession & dementors West Ham & Quidditch wands
The FAQ section has been updated complete with a new FAQ question. Hermione was born in 1979 - she turned 12 a few weeks after her first term at Hogwarts (something I and alot of British fans might've guessed for a long time as this is how our school system works.) All magic kids get an invite to Hogwarts - parents can choose if they go or not the core of Hermione's wand Theodore Nott (Slytherin) is present in Thestral Class Godric's Hollow is a village
She has also awarded a new fansite award to HPANA: Quote:
The Harry Potter Automatic News Aggregator was the very first Harry Potter website I ever visited, though it has changed almost beyond recognition since those early days. A fantastically user-friendly fansite, faster off the mark with Harry Potter news than any other site I know, and with all kinds of brilliantly inventive touches. I particularly like the points system, whereby dedicated posters can work their way up from 'Muggle' to 'Auror' and beyond - though speaking of titles, I hoped that 'High Inquisitor' (moderator name) would have died out when Umbridge was run (galloped?) out of Hogwarts. On the other hand, 'Guillaume' and 'Broggy' (surnames of two of the masterminds behind HPANA) are just begging to be used for fictional wizards.
The FAQ Poll has been updated with the following choices:
1) How many chapters will HBP have?
2) What is the significance of Neville being the boy to whom the prophecy might've referred? (Currently winning)
3) Will Ron ever manage to become more than just friends with a girl?
My advice is as follows - I don't think number 2 holds much significance and with number 3 she could just answer with a 'yes', 'no', or 'maybe' which isn't very informative and would just aggitate shippers. I plead to you all, vote for number 1!!

I thought she already sort of answered #2 in that Neville is a pureblood where Harry is a half-blood. Unless she means specifically a person with Neville's personality

I haven't heard anyone mention the clue about how OOTP communicate... in the 'not chocolate frog cards' segment. Quote:
The Order communicates in a way that requires nothing but a wand. You saw the Order’s method of communication in use even before you knew about the existence of the Order; it was employed by an Order member.
Does anyone recognize this scene from one of the books?

Serena, we discovered the existense of the Order at the beginning of book 5 so I am think it has to be in one of the first four books but at the moment I am not coming up with it. I thinking it will be in Dumbledore's office but that is just my guess and is without support at the moment.

Does anyone recognize this scene from one of the books? If I might suggest, since Dumbledore is a member of the Order, when he uses his wand to send out a whisp of grey/white smoke that trails away summoning Hagrid that this may be how they can communicate with only wands ......

In Goblet of Fire after Krum is stunned and Dumbledore sends some smoke which is described as looking like a bird, and then Hagrid comes bounding up w/Fang.. That is the only scene I remember of the sort.

Could be... but Hagrid wasn't that far away. Of course, that doesn't mean it would be limited in distance. I guess we'll find out more. The other way was using portraits, but that didn't involve the use of a wand.

Yeah I think it's that too. I made a thread about it in OotP forum seeing as that's where DD tells Harry they have other methods of communication when he questions how Snape could inform the Order as the fires were being watched and owls, intercepted.

I think that the form of comunication might be with fawks (if I spelled the name wrong I am sooo sorry!). Any ways, he sent him when Harry saw Mr. Weasley get bit by the snake so maybe he can send him all over the place for a warning or comunication. Like an owl, but faster. And maybe he can't get intercepted.

*does a jig* Of course so far, she put up one of the sites I most frequently go to for Harry Potter. I guess we are bound to come up Rowling's top list of fan site just yet! Well, you know, sooner or later.

I still think it's the silvery wand thing. Quote:

Exactly. She's covered nearly all the main ones.
