| | JKR should win Nobel Prize
According to the author, Isabel Allende, J.K.Rowling should win the Nobel Prize for the Harry Potter books.
The following is a translation of her comments, from Spanish to English: Quote:
"I greatly admire the author, I really love her books, and the movies (which are based on them) and I thank her, as a mother, and as a grandmother, for having the children of the world reading. When I see an eight-year old child reading a humongous Harry Potter book in the school bus, I think to myself that Rowling should be awarded the Nobel Prize."
The rest of the article, which is in Spanish, can be found here. Translation courtesy of Veritaserum. |

Isn't that going to far? Yes she is brilliant, but a nobel prize?

Ah why not, she does write about good over evil. But I am sure there someone who is helping orphans or feeding hungry people who may deserve it more.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Sirius Potter Fourth Year | Gryfflepuff The Nobel Prize for Literature rarely goes to popular author. I think the Nobel Foundation would do better honor someone like J.R.R. Tolkien or C.S. Lewis. Professor Tolkien is the only author who has the same series of books on the best seller list more than once, but separated by decades of time. Lewis wrote many different types of books, not just novels. Rowling is an excellent author and one day she may well win the prize but not now.

I love Isabel Allende, so it's great to see her praise JKR so highly.

Wait until it's more than just a modern cultural phenomenon. She's great, her writing is inspiring... but it seems a little far-fetched and early to award her a Nobel Prize. Ms. Rowling still has time to peak! Quote:

Well yes, but this is the Nobel prize for literature, isn't it?

Isabelle Allende's a great writer...i agree with Snuffles, i dont think its likely JKR'll receive a Nobel Prize so soon, it'll be great if she did, but maybe after all the 7 books are released.

that would be very interesting! i don't see why she shouldn't.the books are so magical, and, you read closely, you can learn a lot of good values in them that would really inspire you.perhaps that's one criterion of winning a nobel prize...how your work has inspired the people.

| JayMay ♥ Big, yellow duckie <3 Well, I'm not sure if Rowling should get it. She's mediocre if you compare her wth Dickens and Shakespeare, and other worthwhile writers.
