  Jason Isaacs Interview - a short Q & A with J.I.

Summary:
TV Week for 2/8/04 printed a couple paragraphs of comments by Jason Isaacs.

Article:

On their TV Q & A page by Taylor Michels, the second question concerns Jason Isaacs. (The first is about Sheila Tousey).

Q. Jason Isaacs, who plays Captain Hook in the new movie "Peter Pan" looks very familiar to me. Where might I have seen him before? -Bonnie Solomon, Denton, Texas.

A. Isaacs, 40, has been appearing in films and television since the late 1980's in his native England, but on this side of the pond audiences tend to recognize him from two prominent roles, as villainous British Col. William Tavington in Mel Gibson's "The Patriot" and Lucius Malfoy, the arrogant father of Harry Potter's nemesis in "Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets".

While fans are begining to take serious note of the handsome actor from Liverpool, he says he has relished being a working actor who is not yet a celebrity. "The people I met and worked with who have obscene amounts of fame have awful lives, " Isaacs says. "And I can go anywhere. No one knows who I am. I can go on teh tube and bus and wander through the streets. So I'm quite happy not to get the girl".

Other than Harry Potter and The Patriot, Jason Isaacs' also been in another well-known/award-winning US movie, Black Hawk Down. I suppose it's because he plays so many characters and looks so different in each movie that people tend to not recognise him.

I don't know who has been written into or out of the script, however, although Jason Isaacs may be out of Prisoner of Azkaban (guess Lucius works off camera to push the lawsuit to destroy Buckbeak) - Lucius Malfoy will certainly have to be back for Goblet of Fire, he is too important to the Quidditch World Cup, the reappearance of Death Eaters, etc. Jason Isaacs is so great at portraying this evil slimey man (not to mention that he is absolutely gorgeous). He definitely looks perfect as Draco's dad. Once the two actors (Isaacs and Felton) were together...you can easily see how Draco could be so young and still so wicked! I don't think I could take another actor in either of their roles.

He was really good in The Patriot. And he will be needed for GOF. I don't think I could see anyone else playing Lucius cause he's just so perfect for the role.

I must say, I agree with you. I'd love to see him in the streets or anywhere! I'd certainly recognise him! He is a wonderful actor and he's AWESOME! Really, he's the coolest!

I love his interviews... I've read so many. Thanks for sending this one! I enjoyed reading about good ol' Jason- as I always do! Jason is the coolest!
