For budding authors around the world, please take note of the following news brief from the Associated Press. A dubious book publisher announced that they promised writers their work would be shown to Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling in Edinburgh, Scotland (her hometown), as part of a 'delegation' to further their careers - for a price. More on that below.  NEW YORK (AP) — J.K. Rowling is not amused by a publisher's promise that some of its books will be brought to her attention.
PublishAmerica, in a message on its website, is telling authors that a "delegation" will soon meet with her in Edinburgh and tell the "Harry Potter" author about some of their books. Writers are asked to submit 50-100 word notes that the delegation will present to Rowling. The price: $49.
Rowling spokesman Mark Hutchinson said Tuesday that the claim was "completely false" and promised "appropriate action." PublishAmerica, based in Frederick, Maryland, has long been cited by industry watchdogs for allegedly deceiving authors.

Okay, this is kind of weird. I really hate when journalists/people think that they can get away with saying/writing whatever they want without having any facts to back it up.

And the funny thing is Jo is a person with an address/fan mail. I'm sure if you were patient enough, you could send her the 50-100 words for FREE and she would probably look at it and write back.
I mean, she says how much fan mail she still gets. She might not respond, or maybe someone else will respond for her, but that would be no scam.
