In addition to the
four new major Wizarding World schools revealed by J.K. Rowling through Pottermore this weekend, the Harry Potter author gave a couple of extra teasers and tidbits about the institutions, as seen below.
There are 11 large magical schools around the world, and seven have been named so far: Scotland's Hogwarts; France's Beauxbatons; northern Europe's Durmstrang; the United States' Ilvermorny; Brazil's Castelobruxo; Japan's Mahoutokoro; and Africa's Uagadou.
The others will be revealed through Pottermore in due time, said Rowling, including apparently schools in Canada and Australia. Australia is said to host one of the top 11 schools, though as Ilvermorny is the only major Wizarding school in North America, the Canadian school will probably be a smaller institution.
Ilvermorny will be mentioned in the upcoming Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them film, as many of the lead characters, including Tina and Queenie Goldstein, and presumably Percival Graves, were students.
