| | J.K. Rowling’s books stolen
Thousands of copies of J.K. Rowling’s Quidditch Through the Ages and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them were stolen from a recycling plant in Port Talbot in Wales. Proceeds from sale of the set of books go to the charity Comic Relief, and these particular 3,000 copies were due to be recycled because they didn’t sell.
Police believe the thieves will try to sell the books on the street. |

First to post!
I just wanted to say I think it's a shame these books were due to be destroyed instead of being donated to libraries.

interesting... but they were being chucked anyway. and if the shops didn't sell them then the robbers won't either. But it is wrong that the money won't end up with comic relief. they are a great charity and are very deserving of money.

I agree with you guys too. If they weren't sold they should have been donated. As a future librarian, I hate it when books are wasted or destroyed.

i definitely agree with all of you, they should have been donated either to a library or some sort of children's outreach program that could use them to help teach children to read

Whoa, when I first saw the title thread, I thought it was the books Jo was writing the Harry Potter books in. I'm relieved that wasn't the case, although I don't get why the books were to be recycled. I mean, couldn't the prices be reduced or have the extra ones sold to discount bookstores?

| Ultimate Potterite Original original How dare those stupid people! Too bad we can't search them out with magic and turn their butts in at the Ministry for punishment... I hope they are found and that the books aren't sold on the street. HP is too wonderful for street sales. |

Wow....the first thing that shocked me was that the books were being thrown out and then that they were stolen. I'm still having difficulty in determining the worst of two evil

that's awful that the books were going to be recycled, why couldn't they have donated them? i treasure my HP books, they should never be thrown away like that . some kids want the books but don't have the money to buy them, so i think they should have given them to less forunate kids. but it is sad that they were stolen like that.
