| | J.K. Rowling currently "actively" considering Harry Potter series e-book conversion
It is being reported that J.K. Rowling and her team are finally considering the official conversion of the Harry Potter books to a digital format, so fans of the series can read any or all of the seven installments via iPad and Kindle e-book. Quote:
Ms Rowling's agent has confirmed that the author, who had ruled out making the books available electronically for years, was now actively considering plans for e-book versions.
Ms Rowling's spokeswoman confirmed: "The e-book format is now something that is being actively considered."
The report states that if the conversion were to take place, Rowling could earn an estimated £100 million from sales. We hope to have more on information this development, so stay tuned. |

That would be.. I don't know really but I'd rather read the books the way they are.

I'd say do it if it gets more people into reading them but, personally, I prefer having the books in my hand. There's just something about that smell of paper that you can't recreate with technology. I also think that having the actual books fits with the feeling of the stories but that's just me.

I don't have an e-book but I think it would be really practical if we could have all Harry Potter books in one, you could read any of them wherever you are |

I prefer the real books as well, it's something weird about the smell of books but sometimes it's just easier to take my iPad and read e-books.
I'll definitely be buying them if she decides to release e-book versions. I hope they'll make the iPad versions interactive like they do with some other e-books.

Yes lots of people read e-books, but of those people who would seriously buy her books? And how many of them didn't already read them in book form? The number is likely incrementally small as ipads and e-readers aren't half as common as phones ... I doubt there's such a large hold out of people who won't read her books just because they're not available in e-format. LOL Likely it'll be people wanting to get rid of their paper copies who just want e-copies ... and of those whose to say they don't already have copies from the internet?
She should do it if she wants to but ... its just another format. Its like not having your books in audio format ... its really not that big a deal ... everyone else does it because it means more money for them. I think Jo should hold out just because it would be nice to be known for that ... being the only author not available as an e-book. I could not have said it better myself. However, the HP books in audio format is a treat considering Jim Dale reads them!!!

Eh..not a big fan of any type of ebook only because reading an actual book is so much better. But I guess it'll make more money if she does decide on doing so.
Its kinda like with walkman's and CDs...we have digital music now but I still prefer buying the cd and holding it, over buying from itunes any day.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Megara Kostas First Year | I personally don't like e-books but for people who only use e-books it would be a great oppurtunity so why not? Everyone should have access to the Potter world.
And if she makes heaps more money from it, good for her! She deserves it! |

I really think ebooks are taking over reading. I rather just have an actual book in my hand because it feels more real. Something that the author has actually wrote. Nothing will ever replace a normal book for me. I love turning the pages. I wouldn't really like it on an ebook.

I would say that it's an abomination to squish these masterpieces into tiny little thingies inside a screen, however there are fans-to-be out there who wants to read them on their ipads or whatever and I'd say "Yay! Go for it"
More Harry Potter love to the people, even though I'll never abondon the original books. *pats them*

I own a kindle and that's the only format I read novels with anymore. I have a closet full of books. That sit there. All my favorite books are on my kindle I can take anywhere with me, read anywhere, and never have to dig through piles of books to find. No damaged pages from wear, or missing pages or covers. And I can just take out my kindle if I want to find a quote from any book I've ever read.
Its about darn time Harry Potter came to Kindle format. Geepers!

| Digital opens a world of possibilities
As an owner of print versions of all the books, it’s good to see J.K. Rowling is joining the 21st century. The print versions will still be available for everyone who prefer that format. However, as my children re-read the series it is nice to know that we could be able to load the books on a reader rather than lugging up to 20+ pounds of books around. And, adding digital publishing will open a world of possibilities. Just think how useful it would be if they do some cross-linking within the series, or enhanced character development/description, or movie tie-ins. The list goes on and on! They’ll need a good digital publishing partner. Hey J.K., contact us, and we can discuss the possibilities.
