Imelda Staunton has stated several times that she will be playing Professor Umbridge in ' Order of the Phoenix'. This is still unconfirmed by WB; David Heyman stated they were in 'negotiations' a while ago. Once again she has spoken about the role, this time to TV Quick magazine. Quote:
Dolores is evil, ugly and toadlike. Hoorah! I'll be most shocked when they say, "We don't need any make-up, you're fine!" I'm a fan of the books. We've got them in our house, so now my kudos has gone up enormously. Life won't be worth living if I don't arrange for my daughter to visit the set!

I've seen a couple pictures of her, and with the one Invidious posted, I think she will fit the role perfectly. Haven't heard her voice yet though... she'll need to work on that high-pitched girl-like voice with the 'hem hem' cough to be perfect

I think she has got the role. The difference being Anna said she'd LIKE the role; Imelda said, "I'm in Harry Potter 5" on This Morning WEEKS ago. She was even talking about it with the presenters! A famous actress, as resected as she, wouldn't lie. I think she just slipped up and said something too early. It'll be confirmed eventually. But I'm more than confident she is Umbridge.

I think she'd be beyond perfect as Umbridge. I've seen a few of her films and I can't remember the one in particular but her mannerims in it was just screaming Dolores. She is exactly how I envisioned Umbridge, I really hope she gets it.
