| | |  Hermione's mother cast in Deathly Hallows
British actress Michelle Fairley has been cast as Hermione's mother, Mrs. Granger, in Deathly Hallows. Of the part, she had this to say: Quote:
"They wanted to do shooting for the film on the press day for the play I'm in at the Old Vic which meant me being in the theatre all day. So, initially I couldn't do it.
"So it looked as if the part was gone until the director came back and said that he wanted me for the part. They have now arranged new dates for the shooting which will take a couple of days.
"I'm delighted as I've a lot of friends and family and their children who all love Harry Potter, so it's lovely to be involved.
"I've never seen any of the Harry Potter movies or read any of the books," admitted Michelle, who now plans to watch the films and read the books in preparation for her part.
"It's not a very large part, maybe three or four scenes which will take just a few days filming. But it's very nice indeed for me."

I think there is a way to show how Hermione modifies her parents memories and just focus on her mother and Ms. Fairley will make a great Mrs. Granger!!!!!

We already saw Hermione's parents....while I can appreciate her being cast, whenever they put someone who is not in the book on the screen, I always wonder if it's not at the expense of an established character.

Ok yall- quit jumping the gun- I dont have an issue w. people having their opinions but DH hasnt even begun full filming and people are already guessing they're changing it. There is a scene that was very emotional for Hermione when she modified her parents memories. I know she isnt quite a kid anymore but she is their daughter and they are her parents whom she loves very much. I am excited that they could very well be bringing this scene to life in showing the emotional turmoil Hermione goes thru so her Muggle parents are kept safe.

you people who think they are "changing the book" and adding parts that dont belong to the movie need to THINK - a flashback w/ Hermione's mom, if this is what they will be doing, IS in the book because Hermiones does discuss her parents. It is not like there is no mention of the Grangers whatsoever. Adding flashbacks does alot ....look at LOTR 2nd movie where they flashed to the appendices of the book and to past differences w/ Faramir and his dad.

She looks a lot prettier with longer hair in the newer photos, I think...
I also think people should stop saying we don't need Hermione's mother, or that this is stupid. I've never seen any movie be completely identical for the book except for the original Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, so we can expect some slight changes to happen.
We don't even know what scenes she's going to be in yet or anything of the sort, stop freaking out about it! It's not going to help anything....  (not like there's much to help, anyways...)
