Harry Potter alum Timothy Spall (Wormtail; Peter Pettigrew) was named Best Actor for his work in
Mr. Turner at this year's New York Film Critics Circle on Monday afternoon. The actor portrayed famed artist J. M. W. Turner (William Turner) in the story based on his life.
This is not the first award Spall received for his role as Turner: back in May, he received the Best Actor award during the
Cannes International Film Festival awards ceremony. These are some of the earliest accolades handed out during the awards season; more will be be updated as they are announced (numerous cities across the United States host their own critics awards, in addition to the larger ceremonies like February's Academy Awards).
Many congratulations to Timothy Spall on the honour!
