Get ready for a lot of new
Harry Potter merchandise coming this year - and this excludes all the goods tied in with
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (book and plays) and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Parks and Resorts!
This weekend's Toy Fair unveiled a lot of new
Harry Potter Funko! Pop Vinyl figures releasing throughout the year, loads of new puzzles featuring art from the seven-part book series and eight installments of the original Harry Potter saga from J.K. Rowling, and even tentative new items on the horizon for 2017.
Let's start off with the new
Harry Potter Funko! figures coming out, beginning with the second wave of items releasing next month that include Draco Malfoy, Luna Lovegood, Neville Longbottom, Dobby, a Dementor, Michael Gambon's Dumbledore, and the trio in different outfits.
This summer will see the release of the Harry Potter Funko! Pop Ridez, featuring Harry, Ron and Hermione with the Hogwarts express engine. No specific month or date of release yet, just that it will be in the summer.
After the Pop Ridez's release, Funko will release the new Harry Potter Mystery Mini sets, of which there are 16. Funko told SnitchSeeker at the Toy Fair in New York City that the box set of Mystery Minis include 12 figures only, so no box set will include all 16 of the Harry Potter items, and there's no guarantee of which exact Funko characters will be in each individual case.
No word yet on when the Mystery Mini sets are out (and no, they were not on display at Toy Fair, unfortunately), but it will be after this summer.
Moving on from Funko, Wrebbit put their new
Harry Potter Hogwarts 3D puzzles - of which there are two parts - on display. Those sets are available for purchase
here, and a preview can be seen below.
New and surprisingly delightful puzzle sets, to be released this spring by the New York Puzzle Company, feature Mary Grandpre's art from the original Harry Potter U.S. book editions, including book covers and separate scene art she drew. A preview of that is here.
Elope, longtime distributors of Harry Potter outerwear like scarves and hats, had these new House-specific sets on display at Toy Fair. Those can be purchased
here.
Finally, Wonder Forge informed SnitchSeeker that they are planning to release a Harry Potter-themed
Pictopia game, which is a sort of Trivial Pursuit, but with images only, and not text questions. They released a
Disney version available now for those curious.
The Harry Potter Pictopia is scheduled for a 2017 release, though no other information beyond that has been given.
This year's Toy Fair had a lot of
Harry Potter goods set in store for fans, but unfortunately nothing available yet for
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which hits theaters in November.
