Media insider Jim Hill has posted on his website that the magic world of Hogwarts may soon be found in the magical world of Disney, as Warner Brothers may be close to finalizing a deal with the Disney Company to create a Harry Potter themed attraction. Quote:

I would appreciate it if you kept this anonymous. But I have a friend who works for the Warner Brother legal department, who actually sees the contracts. And they just sent me the following e-mail:
"You didn't hear it from me. But there may be a certain wizard visiting the mouse kingdom in the future."

Yes. After several years of protracted negotiations with author J. K. Rowling as well as Warner Bros. (During which the Walt Disney Company had to pay out an estimated $140 million in order to land the network broadcasting rights for both "Sorcerer's Stone" and "Chamber of Secrets"), it appears that the Mouse is just inches away from finally acquiring the rights to use the characters and settings from all seven of the "Harry Potter" books in a theme park setting.

In my eyes it's only a rumour and I wouldn't like to have a Harry Potter theme park. I would never ever get to visit it! I mean if it's disney they are gonna charge HUGE rates for people visiting/staying at the park.
Also lets say Disney have said they would happily pay $140 million for the rights that would mean J.K and Warner Bros. would gain a HUGE amount between them but after that deal is sealed Disney can do what they like within the park. But of course not as far as changing key aspects of characters/settings.
I don't really want this to be true!

whoa! that would be sooooooooooo awesome and totally wicked! i ,ean....just think! hp rides and souvenier shops in like....evry disneyland theme parks!!!!! youd go to disney expecting to see disney characters and have your photographs taken with them.....then youd go! whoa! look, mum! its harry potter!!!!!!!! that would be totally wicked!!!!

I think it would be a real shame for Disney to take over the Harry Potter contract. Disney suceeds in making cheesy fairytale-style movies: a style that would completely ruin the Harry Potter series. In order to be a sucess the HP movies need to reflect the 'dark' side which J.K Rowling effectively portrays in her books. I just can't see Disney capable of mimicing the deepness and darkness of J.K's imagery. Please can HP stay in the hands of warnerbros! We don't want it ending up in the same leauge as Bambi!!!!  | |
