Today, Friday September 10th, marks director Chris Columbus' 52nd birthday! Chris was the first director of the
Harry Potter film series, helming the first two features,
Sorcerer's Stone and
Chamber of Secrets. He went on to produce
Prisoner of Azkaban (which, of course, went to Alfonso Cuaron), but opted out of directing it, due to sheer exhaustion from having made the first two.
Chris, a director well-known for working great with children, headed several other films throughout his decades-long career, including the first two
Home Alone movies,
Mrs. Doubtfire,
Nine Months, and
Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief.
Happy Birthday, Chris! ![balloons](https://www.snitchseeker.com/images/smilies/balloons.gif)
