| | |  Half-Blood Prince teaser trailer images: young Riddle & Mrs Cole (UPDATE #3)
Two photos from the Half-Blood teaser trailer have just been posted online, one featuring young Tom Riddle, Mrs. Cole (matron of the orphanage) and a middle-aged Dumbledore, the other shows Dumbledore casting his ring of fire spell against the Inferi in the cave. The first photo confrms our report last week regarding the casting of Mrs. Cole.

Director David Yates describes the young actor playing Tom Riddle and gives a bit of insight into the character. Quote:
"His mother (Martha Fiennes) is a film director, and Hero was very focused and disciplined," Yates says. "The fact that he's related to Ralph wasn't the primary reason for choosing him. It was an advantage that he looked very similar to Ralph. Of course that was useful. But primarily I went for Hero because of this wonderful haunted quality that seemed to bring Tom Riddle alive on-screen for us."
Yates stressed how hard it can be for very young actors to find the necessary dark place to play such a creepy character.
"But even though he's the nicest child you'd ever want to meet, sweet-natured and pleasant, he got the corners and dark moods and odd spirit of the character."

"Even at a very young age, Tom Riddle shows tendencies toward cruelty and maliciousness," Yates says. "And it's a very unsettling thing to see."

In the heat of battle: Dumbledore (Michael Gambon) and Harry have gone on a perilous journey into a cave filled with dark magic and are attacked by Inferi, reanimated and haunted dead people. Dumbledore creates a firestorm to fend off the dangerous spooky creatures. "It’s almost a biblical image," says Yates. "He’s a bit like Charlton Heston when he parts the Red Sea."
Yates also mentions that editing for the film is complete and test audiences will preview the film in August.

Thanks so much to HarryPotter-es for the tip! UPDATE: USA Today have updated their slideshow with two more pictures depicting Harry & Dumbledore with the headmaster's collection of memories.  Quote:
"This is the continuation of the journey into memories," says director David Yates.
"In the books, the memories were a very big part of J.K. Rowling's story. We've actually pared them down in our story, and she was very supportive of that decision. They're such an enjoyable part of reading The Half-Blood Prince. But we've kind of distilled them down to two or three memories to try to keep everything more in the moment. Flashbacks in movies are tricky things; they tend to hold up the momentum of the story you're telling."

"Dumbledore is presenting Harry with an important memory of the young Voldemort," says Yates.
"These memories are held in little tubes. He's showing him the memory of young Tom Riddle before he becomes Voldemort. Dumbledore wants Harry to experience the memory by pouring it into the Pensieve, where the memory forms a kind of 3-D reality. Harry can experience what Dumbledore experienced all those years before."

so it wasnt Felix Felices on the first banner after all, its a memory.
the film is lookin' good. and i did notice that just as OOTP was awashed in blue tint, HBP looks to be following the sepia/ orange hue.

BTW....i dont think it is so difficult to get the child actor, Hero, to look so dark looking and evil....He just looks like a kid who is sulking very badly to me....

Uhhhhhhhhhhhh, are we sure that's Dumbledore? Because when I saw the pic I thought YOU SHALL NOT PAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAS!  Ehh...so-so images. Still can't work up much excitement. Now if we could maybe see some images of THE HALF-BLOOD STINKING PRINCE HIMSELF, then I might get a little smile on my face.
