| | 'Goblet of Fire' premiere report - a teaser
Yesterday was mad, manic, crazy, pandemonium and every other word you can think of to describe a Harry Potter premiere. After attending Azkaban last year, I thought they could get no bigger. I was wrong. The area in which the premiere took place was expanded which, in my opinion, gave more fans the opportunity to interact with their idols. There were downfalls and disappointments, I won't pretend there weren't, but on the whole it was an amazing day.
Here are a few random 'facts' to keep you going til later; * 36 hours without any sleep * 24 hours without a proper meal * 13 hours waiting in the freezing cold (and the rain!!!) * 6 hours queuing to get in the 'circle' (I'll explain better later) * 6 autographs * 4am - the time we arrived - there were about 50 people already there (some in sleeping bags). We were definitely in the first 100 to arrive * 1 very loud dragon * 1 Cardiff Uni banner (+ another one which didn't have an SS friendly message which Tom Felton found particularly amusing) * Many decorations/banners/backdrops * Many pictures (in varying qualities)
The Cardiff Uni HP Society, who I was travelling with, were interviewed by several reporters. I've found one interview on the net here - let me know if you see anything mentioning us!!! Quote:
For the 30-strong Harry Potter Society of the University of Cardiff in Wales, however, the reasons seemed more social than literary.
"We meet every two weeks to discuss the books and go to the cinema," said Katie Fazal, an 18-year-old first year English literature student.
"It's an extension of a reading group," she explained, before adding: "Well, actually, we meet in bars and we had a pub crawl on Halloween dressed as Harry Potter characters."
Trust Katie to make us sound like drunkards! We do actually have amazing discussions as well as the odd drink!! hehe Our society is WAY bigger than 30, that was just the number of us who went to London.
That should satisy you, for the time being. Expect to see the full report + pictures & scans, later. |

Actually the trip only cost me £10 in travelling expenses and perhaps another £10 on 'supplies'. Yes, which is six more than last year! Not saying who though! (Kaz, I know I've told you, so keep it zipped!!!)

I loved the banner. It was really funny. You got 6 autographs? Lucky. I only got 2! But I did touch Rupert's jeans which was really sweet of him.

I think it is about £60 single on the train to get to london where I live.

You saw the one Tom Felton commented on? OMG, where were you? Near Katie and Emily? Wow, lucky you! I couldn't reach that far, but I did ... no I won't say because it'll give stuff away which I want to save for later. But yes Rupert = awesome. Amazing. Who did you get? Quote:

The censor won't allow it. It wasn't that bad, actually. 'Harry Potter's ....'. But they were told to turn it around the once, probably because it was deemed 'inappropriate' but they managed to turn it back 'round by the time the cast arrived. Quote:

It's the same for us. We got a coach and had discounts because part of the Society budget was used to fund the trip.

| Besides being MADLY jealous, I'm glad you had such a great time. Congrats on achieving your SIX autographs (which I will certainly have fun trying to guess on) and sorry for all the hours waiting, but as it has been said many times before, I'm sure it was worth it :)
And just to jump to the topic of Halloween real quick, a kid came to my door dressed as Harry Potter and I was so enamored that I gave him the entire bowl of candy. My mom wasn't too pleased, but what I did was clearly for the greater good. I mean hey, sorry to all the other kids that missed out, but now they know EXACTLY what they should be for Halloween next year. |

Alright Emma I want to know two things and if you don't tell me... I'll figure out something to do to you!
First off, you know I'd ask this, was Rupert even more fabulous looking in that jacket at the premiere in person? Because on the computer I was all like... "Whoa!"
Secondly, tip me on how to do this premiere thing. I'm of course going for the NY one. Should I arrive there before sunrise?
