Obviously the news has spread to the world that renowned and award-winning English actor Jude Law was cast as the younger Albus Dumbledore for the upcoming four Fantastic Beasts movies (reportedly chosen over numerous other British celebs including Emmy winner Benedict Cumberbatch, Oscar winner Christina Bale, and the son of the original Dumbledore actor, Jared Harris).
For those who are not aware of Law's body of film and television work, expanding well over two decades, here's a quick breakdown of the 44 year old actor's highlights.
As Law began to make waves among theatergoers and Hollywood in smaller and well-received movies like Wilde, Gattaca, and Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil (all released 20 years ago in 1997), it wasn't until his big breakout and Academy Award-nominated, and BAFTA film winning-role in The Talented Mr. Ripley that the actor became a big name.
Quote:
Matt Damon is Tom Ripley, a calculating young man who believes it's better to be a fake somebody than a real nobody. Opportunity knocks in the form of a wealthy American shipbuilder who hires Tom to travel to Italy to bring back his playboy son, Dickie (Law). Ripley worms his way into the idyllic lives of Dickie and his girlfriend (Paltrow), plunging into a daring scheme of duplicity, lies and murder.
Soon after, Law worked with director Steven Spielberg in A.I. Artificial Intelligence, and Tom Hanks in Road to Perdition, before starring in the 2004 Oscar-winning drama Cold Mountain, for which he received his second Oscar-nomination, this time as Performance as a Lead Actor.
Quote:
Starring Nicole Kidman, Jude Law, and Renée Zellweger, Cold Mountain tells the story of Ada and Inman. At the dawn of the Civil War, the men of Cold Mountain, North Carolina, rush to join the Confederate army. Ada has vowed to wait for Inman, but as the war drags on and letters go unanswered, she must find the will to survive while desperately struggling to hold onto her family's farm. Inman's long journey home takes him through the crumbling confederacy, as he meets people of all walks of life who both aid and hinder his mission.
Law took on notable lead roles in small features like Alfie, I Heart Huckabees, The Holiday, and Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, as well as supporting roles in The Aviator, A Series of Unfortunate Events, and Closer in the previous decade, before he got the role of what is probably his most famous role to date (until now).
In director Guy Ritchie's Vicorian-era and high-action adaptation of 2009's Sherlock Holmes (and its sequel, 2011's Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows), Law played Dr. John Watson to fellow Oscar-nominee Robert Downey Jr.'s titular detective. Reportedly a third installment has been announced, though no word yet on production date.

In a dynamic new portrayal of Arthur Conan Doyles most famous characters, Sherlock Holmes sends Holmes and his stalwart partner Watson on their latest challenge. Revealing fighting skills as lethal as his legendary intellect, Holmes will battle as never before to bring down a new nemesis and unravel a deadly plot that could destroy the country.
Law's versatility as an actor ranges to comedies like 2014's The Grand Budapest Hotel (for which Harry Potter films' composer Alexandre Desplat won an Oscar), 2015's hit Spy, and 2013's satire Dom Hemingway.
However, before jumping into his latest projects, one specific movie must be pointed out, and that was 2009 movie's The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.
The significance of this movie is in two parts, both involving Law. The first is that this film was Oscar-winning actor Heath Ledger's final movie, playing Tony, and one he did not have the chance to complete, thus Law was one of several actors brought on to complete the performance.
And the second bit? The other two actors who played the role of lead character Tony along with Law were a couple of familiar names: Fantastic Beasts' actors Colin Farrell (Percival Graves) and Johnny Depp (Gellert Grindelwald).

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus is a fantastical morality tale, set in the present-day. It tells the story of Dr. Parnassus and his extraordinary Imaginarium, a travelling show where members of the audience get an irresistible opportunity to choose between light and joy or darkness and gloom.
Now, to Law's latest projects. The actor was cast as a fictional American cardinal chosen to the highest position in the Catholic Church: The Young Pope, which debuted on U.S. network HBO this past January (and on Sky in the UK in late 2016), to rave reviews.

Lenny Belardo is no ordinary Pope. He is the youngest and first American Pope in history. We find him on the morning of his first day in office, preparing to enter into the power struggles inside the closed, secretive Vatican state.
For those interested in seeing Law act in person in the coming month, he's actually set to star in the limited-run production of Obsession, for which tickets will go on sale this week. The show will run from 19 April - 20 May 2017 Barbican/Toneelgroep Amsterdam in London's West End.

Jude Law plays the magnetically handsome, down-at-heel Gino in a new stage adaptation of Visconti's penetrating social drama directed by Ivo van Hove.
Drifter Gino, powerful and graceful as a puma, encounters Giuseppe and his much younger, trapped wife Giovanna at their roadside restaurant and petrol station. He and Giovanna are so irresistibly attracted to one another they begin an affair while plotting to murder her husband. But the crime does not unite them in this chilling story where passion can lead only to destruction
Finally, Law will be seen as the villainous ruler Vortigern in Warner Bros.' upcoming release of King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, set to hit theaters in exactly a month, on May 12, 2017. Undoubtedly Law will be doing some press for the movie, so definitely expect some press to grill him about taking on the Dumbledore role.
Quote:
When the child Arthur’s father is murdered, Vortigern (Jude Law), Arthur’s uncle, seizes the crown. Robbed of his birthright and with no idea who he truly is, Arthur comes up the hard way in the back alleys of the city. But once he pulls the sword from the stone, his life is turned upside down and he is forced to acknowledge his true legacy…whether he likes it or not.
Law has received numerous accolades in his over 20-year acting history, including the two Oscar nominations and BAFTA win mentioned above, three Golden Globe nominations for film work, and even a Grammy award nomination back in 2006 for Best Spoken Word Album for Children.
Jude Law joins Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Dan Fogler, Zoe Kravitz, Ezra Miller, and Depp for J.K. Rowling's Fantastic Beasts sequel starting this summer, and subsequent sequels.

this is a good primer for Jude's career first saw him in Gattaca, knew that he was something special super glad he gets to play Dumbledore, which sure as heck isnt easy since he has to somehow balance his version of the character with the versions of two great actors that went before him.
Yeah thats what crazy is, when its broken you say theres nothing to fix++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++And you pray that everything will be okay, while you're making all the same mistakes
