According to a representative we spoke with at Hamilton Hodell, the agency that represents Emma Thompson, there will be no appearance by Sibyll Trelawney in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Quote:

You may recall in the book that it was Trelawney who indirectly informed Harry of two important facts, 1) Draco was 'celebrating' in the Room of Requirement and 2) Snape was the one who overheard her telling Dumbledore about Harry/Voldemort's prophecy. | |

When harry gets the info from Trewlawney about Draco's celebrating in the room of requirement, it is only one more piece of evidence to convince Harry that Draco is up to something. So really, the appearance of Sybill w/ her sherry alchohol breath is, in the scheme of things, not 100% neccessary. Remember, the movie simply cannot be 5 hours long. So they must trim the unneccessary parts. do i agree w/ all of them? No way. But this is just more evidence and Harry could have come to his conclusion w/out her help.

And even the funeral, which I wanted to see actually.

So I guess they're just going to put Dumbledore's body in a bag and dump it in the river instead of having the funeral, have a faerie tell Harry the important information instead of following the book, and add some extra scenes. Why don't they just take out the lessons with Dumbledore too? That's not important to the story, is it?
I really don't have a problem with her not being in the movie in particular, but it just bugs me that they're chopping it up so much and then have the nerve to add stuff.

How do we know the funeral is cut - rumor or a statement from WB? I am sad about Trelawney because I think the sherry bottle stuff would have been funny. I hope they keep in Hagrid and Horace getting sloshed at Aragorn's funeral.
I'd like to know who and what will be left in the films the way things seem to be panning out. Come on WB spit it out and let us have something.... anything.....
