According to a representative we spoke with at Hamilton Hodell, the agency that represents Emma Thompson, there will be no appearance by Sibyll Trelawney in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Quote:
She is not in the half blood prince.
You may recall in the book that it was Trelawney who indirectly informed Harry of two important facts, 1) Draco was 'celebrating' in the Room of Requirement and 2) Snape was the one who overheard her telling Dumbledore about Harry/Voldemort's prophecy. | |

I'm much more upset about them cutting Dumbledore's funeral. That's like a key scene to me. Grr... But I am very disappointed that they won't have the scene with Trelawney drunk and trying to stash the sherry bottles into the Room of Requirement. That would have been funny.

Aw, Trelawney is always fun. But I can see them just shifting her character's role onto another one. It's actually understandable in adaptations, with movies getting longer and longer, some things just have to be condensed, lest we all want to sit through four hour pictures.

I don't think that the Gaunts have been totally eliminated from the script. But then again, I find things like that out months later.
It's a shame she isn't going to be in it because I adore Trelawney but I understand. She doesn't have much of a role in the book...

WTF!!! So another important piece of the story has been left out of the movie. So basically all we're gonna see is Ron and Lavender making out through the whole movie and probably Harry and Ginny as well. As much as we all love a little romance it was not an important part of the story it was just there in the background.
I swear if they do this to the last movie I will personally go over there and knock some sense into David Yates myself. *snorts* like I'd get passed his security.

Too bad about the trewlaney charater she does provide important information to Harry. I did not know that they are dumping Dumbledore's funeral. That is a very important part of the book. I hate it when they cut out important parts of the HP series. I guess WB wants to keep the films around two hours or under.
