Evanna Lynch, who was in Italy this week for the annual Giffoni Film Festival, gave her thoughts about the casting of Noma Dumezweni as Hermione Granger in the current London production of
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, as well as if she would return to portray Luna Lovegood if the eighth story was brought to the big screen.
Quote:
Evanna Lynch: "Hermione is a libertarian in spirit, she fights for those in difficulty, it makes total sense to imagine her as part of a minority. One of the most beautiful things about J.K Rowling, which for me is a point of reference, is the way in which she uses her characters to send a message"
On playing Luna Lovegood again: "I am not ready to abandon the character entirely and I think I would be jealous if it were assigned to someone else."
Evanna's former
Harry Potter costar Alfie Enoch (Dean Thomas), also commented on racial diversity on stage in general, and referenced
Cursed Child. That can be read here.
Quote:
Alfie Enoch: ‘The exciting thing about [Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them] and the play is that the world is expanding and diversifying and different people are playing the parts that we know, and that’s a good thing.’
